So about the presentation on Monday. I was given a script about short sci-fi movie and have to read analysis it then come up with the design for something in the script. There are spacesuit , scenic, buggie, base camp, AI in side the helmet, poster anything that you wanna do you can. Then I decided to do costume (since I state that’s the area I come to this course for to begin with——) so! Here’s what I present
That’s the spacesuit that the protagonist wear as he have an accident fall down the cliff twice and when the eclipse come and his suit get freeze.
And this is his beloved wife
So my analysis of the script that I got …….I found it is s story about a guy that about this guy that accept this dangerous job and get away from home. He sound like he doing all of this for his wife but there’s something bitter between their relationship. The AI in his helmet try to call his wife after the fall and he cut off the call frustrated. And later he matter to the AI about how he accept this job for her. It’s been 3 years and she suppose to have his kid by now….then the protagonist add this two word ‘not him’
Ohhhhhhhhhhh juicy so I was thinking may be he was cheated may be there are something that this man feel lacking from his previous job back on earth. I just make up my theory at that point that may be the background of this space mining company are some billionaires projects that give all this fancy equipment and technology very white and pristine. So advance and privilege. This man sign up so he can have a break from his relationship and land on this job that can prove her how much better he is than whoever that ‘him’ on earth is doing. I am success this for you. Then the fucking thing is he just one of the number that this company own. Then put a barcode on his shirt like he just a ‘thing’ . Then label his name on the back just so it will be easy to retrieve his body if anything happen, they put a logo on him like the company own him. He come all this way to get all this privilege fall down the cliff and surround bu all the crystal mineral that probably turn him into millionaire but he is cold , pain and alone.
Yet the picture of his wife back on earth…….she just wear white t-shirt and jeans. Very simple from their everyday wear. Everything about her is nothing compare to this vision of this futuristic company he is with atm but his wife with simple dress…….what does it speak to him at the crisis moment. Love warm cozy safe. He can hear her laugh and it’s a balm to his heart. Very ironic. And so I present it and my teacher so impress XD it is done and I’m glad it doing well hahahaha
Oh also the space suit design with base on my memory chatting to someone about how sport wear are most affective if the seam is place on exact human muscle. It’s support the movement and something I don’t really remember……..well all i know is it’s good! And science!!
