Spring 2017 Classes
It's my last semester at Smith! Picking classes for this semester was pretty nostalgic and sad. I've gotten to choose so many amazing courses over the years and this semester I was done to my last few leftover requirements. I'm still pretty excited though! Without further ado: Ethics - This class is the intro for my minor. I've left it till last because up until this year it was being taught at eight a.m. which is pretty rare for a humanities class. I'm taking it with Jess and I'm very excited. MWF 10-10:50 Intro to Probability and Statistics - This class fulfills the quantitative skills for my certificate in Culture, Health, and Science. I've also never taken a math class at Smith and so I'm excited to reach outside my comfort zone by a bit. As a safety plan after graduation, a math credit will also give me the appropriate educational qualifications to become a funeral director in WA state. MWF 11-12:10 Primitive Outdoor Skills - This is going to be such a fun course. I always take an exercise and sports studies course (ESS) to keep active and learn new skills. I want to make sure I'm getting as much out of my time at Smith as possible. Emmie will be taking it with me and I know the instructor so I think it'll be a very fun class. T 1-2:50 Special Studies - My current plan is to round out my semester with a special studies in alternative funeral and burial practices. I'm still in the process of figuring out what I will read and write. When I'm done I'll present it to my advisor and he'll hopefully give me the go-ahead. Special studies are a great way to tailor your education and be able to meet in a flexible and one-on-one way with a professor. The schedule is whatever works for my advisor and me on a weekly basis. And that's it! My last 13 credits at Smith (I maxed out my ESS course credits, so that one is truly for fun at this point.) Anna
