Observing Landscape
Observation is a foundational way of perceiving and conceptualizing landscape(s). Moreover, it is through the ways we observe, interpret and express that landscapes get defined.
Landscape Design course, via this ongoing work of critical observation invites students, as individuals, to convey and cultivate their own gaze into their surroundings – their own perceptions of landscape. Here, the intention is to encourage students to bridge theoretical issues covered throughout lectures/readings and actual space. Equally, it is to challenge their previous ways of seeing/observing landscape and help them to develop an eye on identifying assets of landscape.
