When Nixon was impeached it wasn’t over his war crimes. When Hillary Clinton lost and liberals whined “but her emails!” they weren’t taking into account the fact that Hillary Clinton is a war criminal. When USA liberals did their “no kings” march it was because Trump was doing something against the Constitution, not because he is continuing the genocide in Gaza like Biden and Kamala. Time and time throughout History USA liberals showed that they don’t really care about what their presidents do to other people. Only what happens to them counts. I’m so sick of them.

Imma be real with you, Unharmed in the Flames is one of the best Xicheng fics I’ve ever read and I keep re-reading it from time to time, just basking in its perfection. I hope one day you’ll write more Xicheng content but in any case thank you for this lovely fic!

It's really strange because I don't really ship Xicheng at all. I don't feel any desire to actually engage with them. I literally started writing that fic BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET THE SHIP. I thought "how would that ever WORK?" and then I wrote my answer.

And yeah, it's probably one of my best fics. But it's still not my ship.

So...¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm really glad people enjoy it and literally all the comments I get are hopes that I will continue it, but....it's very very unlikely.

Cheapo hack: just watch the show itself with a horror movie noise generator or two running in the background, or whatever your mental equivalent is. Not as sweepingly epic as @deadpanwalking's glorious vision but the paranoid readings really do generate themselves.

(However, if someone with a gazillion bucks to blow on galaxy-brain Tumblr comparatives wants to rent us Highclere Castle for a weekend, I'm sure we could crowdfund a mockumentary film crew, some passable interwar costumes, and a 55-gallon drum of fake blood...)
