One thing I do think is interesting about courtmaker as a ship: the big fear that holds (held?) Emilia back from a relationship with Chris is her certainty that she is too messy and broken and bad at this to have anything to offer him. But he doesn't want her to give him anything; I think what Chris wants, and has always wanted, is for someone to accept everything he has to offer, without thinking he's too much or too weird or too obnoxious. And Emilia could do that, and wants to (she likes being around him, she enjoys him)! But she won't get out of her own way, so she ends up hurting someone she loves through her own self-hatred. Which is something else they have in common. Emilia I'm not asking for anything, I just want to know if it meant something to you at all. Of course it did, you fucking asshole.

I don't know, it's honestly a pretty appealing dynamic. Even if the show could have explored it better.
