Okay question time: (1) Best academic online journal site, I'm wondering if Jstor, Plusone, or Nature has got your goat. (2) What is an ancient language you would love to be proficient in? (3) Have you ever worked with manuscripts? (4) Is it true Archaeologists really have the most parties and have a lot of fun? (5) Big bodies yay or nay?
1) I don’t really feel like I’m beholden to any particular site. I tend to root through things to find individual articles that I need and then go from there.
2) I would love to master Old Welsh. I think that the evolution of the language into what it is now would be really interesting to track in relation to the influences of colonialism and religion. Bonus points for finding the original character system (if there was one) that was used before the church brought in the Latin alphabet.
3) I don’t know if you could call them manuscripts, but I have worked with historical documents from the archives of my university. Most of them were less than a hundred years old.
4) Yes, we absolutely cut loose at parties. Archaeologists are a special brand of crazy, and when you combine that with alcohol you get a truly wild ride.
5) Of course yes to bog mummies! I don’t body shame!
