A pair of finely fluted Spaulders with integrated Couters made for Holy Rman Emperor Maximilian II, attributed to Desiderius Helmschmid, Augsburg, Germany, ca. 1557, housed at the Czartoryski Museum, Krakow.
These pics are back when I first met up with a local 2nd hand armour dealer to see if he had kit that would fit me. Not a single piece of what you see is from the same original set. Each piece has a different story from a different person!
I had to wait 3 months before I could actually call all this armour mine. Adjustments had to be made, rust had to be polished off.... I still cringe to see some of these pieces in such a state!
I might not rely on my kit to protect my life on the field of battle, but I still take care good care of my kit!
