I was 90% asleep last night trying and most failing to tell apart the plots of Prometheus and Coveneant and trying to remember how the main Ancient Aliens guy got infected. For a while I kept thinking they were the same movie, because I remebered one guy getting infected by little pseudo-mushrooms, and I was like, okay...so that's that guy...when did the other guy inhale alien mushroom spores? Which also left me with the unanswerable question of "but didn't the guy who inhaled the mushrooms like die before getting back to the ship. why was Ancient Aliens guy different". (the answer is, because they happened in different movies and are very different stages of the xenomorph life cycle)

Finally I remembered that he got poisoned specifically by David, the android, after David asked him how far he'd be willing to go to meet his makers. And then he was like "All the way" and David was like, "Great! I'll take that as permission to secretly poison you!"

So in my head I was coming up with this whole, wholly incorrect chart of the life cycle of these things under the impression that both movies happened at the same time.

Inhale the pseudo-mushroom spores: the spores incubate or whatever and probably make the host horny so that they then get sexually transmitted to the second host: who has the giant octopus thing grow in them: who knows what would have happened if she weren't The Most Fucking Competent Person On The Planet, Holy Shit, A+++++ Reaction Speed and Follow Through, What The Fuck: octopus squiddy seastar thing somehow gets giant? what the hell was it eating. and glomps the giant Grey Skinned Ancient Alien™ like a facehugger but giant. Blue xenomorph with a sharply pointed head comes outta that person: ?????? who knows what happens next. We'd need an in-between movie.

I actually still don't remember what David put in the thing or where he got it. Maybe off the dead alien person? I don't know.

i commissioned @mxgicdave for a pietà of david 8 and his anatomical venus. the actual piece is absolutely magnificent, but tumblr can’t handle the image size, so have some close-ups to try and make up for that.

the concept of this piece meant a lot to me, and it was special to pitch it to someone who has the same love as i do for the series that inspired it
