Description
This triptych shows the scene of lamentation after Christ has been taken down from the cross. In the centre Christ is supported by Joseph of Arimathea, surrounded by St John the Evangelist, the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene. Joseph of Arimathea appears again in the left wing of the triptych, accompanied by Nicodemus. The right wing has another representation of Mary Magdalene (holding a covered pot) standing next to an unidentified female saint. The reverses of the wings have representations in grisaille of St John the Baptist and St Barbara respectively.
