it's fluid flowing through one aural canal and not the other. usually grabbing your nose and closing your mouth and blowing air fixes it, or lying on the opposite side of the ear can help drain the fluid

no the best way to stab that jerk kid would have either been to affix the tack to the inside of his locker handle or like on the back of his chair or something where he usually grabs it
