Same question as on Discord: Does anyone have intel on why Chet still calls Athena 'sweetheart', by the way? I‘ll accept anything for an explanation. I just wonder why he‘s still doing this after six years of knowing her and maybe three (S4, S5, S6) since he wasn’t stuck with her in close proximity (pretending to be Skip‘s and McGrath‘s landlords because Muldrake made them) anymore. Maybe my curiousity stems from currently trying to figure out why it is that he took her up on her offer in S1 in first place

Relisten 212: A Vow To A Kill - something else I picked up on. Chet’s‘ phrasing "If a little girl hears government agents shouting 'Operation Hestia' it sticks with her". I‘m not sure about sleeping arrangements, but that does sound like Athena has nightmares and talks in her sleep. I think Chet heard that and thought, regardless of the specifics of his feelings, that Prescott has to go down for that. He does have no clue other than that name. Yet he did this.

Also. While I‘m on the topic: the entire way that Chet reacts to people pointing out how this is entirely one-sided and Athena saying to his face that she used him and the way he said, even then "You… used me?" leads me to believe that Chet’s feelings were not what he thought. He is conditioned throughout S1 and that definitely messes with his consent in everything involving both Athena and The Admiral. Athena had put thought into offering sex to him and Chet is a grown adult who can very well tell what‘s good for him. But I don’t think his heart has ever really been in it. As in, I think that without the conditioning, he wouldn‘t have taken Athena’s offer. This really supports my theory on why Chet left the Navy SEALs and joined the EMF instead
