Hello fellow agents!

I am Agent Ace von Juice, the EMF`s Archivist. It has come to my attention that the Mission: Rejected fandom is almost non-active and has only three works in its fandom tag on AO3 as of writing this post. I am here to rectify that fact with my writing. My mission, which I have chosen to accept, is to write all sorts of fan fiction dedicated to our dearly beloved podcast about the worlds most secret agents. You are all very welcome to join me in this endeavor to literary diversity, creation of community and the occasional hot beverage and snack of individual choice. Same question as on Discord: Does anyone have intel on why Chet still calls Athena 'sweetheart', by the way? I‘ll accept anything for an explanation. I just wonder why he‘s still doing this after six years of knowing her and maybe three (S4, S5, S6) since he wasn’t stuck with her in close proximity (pretending to be Skip‘s and McGrath‘s landlords because Muldrake made them) anymore. Maybe my curiousity stems from currently trying to figure out why it is that he took her up on her offer in S1 in first place

Okay, so, I am really, really sad right now. And re-reading the private message Chris Klaniecki sent me on Discord (I wrote a few kind words on the official server back in March and he expressed his thanks for that) gives me comfort. Somehow, I‘m mentally crying lesser now. Never underestimate the impact of your general existence in this world. Because there‘s someone who‘ll find comfort in the fact that you exist

I have started writing Until Something Disconnects this evening and now I feel like truly knowing myself. It‘s mostly Chet describing a sunset on the cruise ship, but I look at what I wrote and think: this is what life is all about, actually

And now. On to writing Until Something Disconnects. I‘m mentally sitting down in the thermal bath and simmering at 30°C while physically writing the one shot. As was always intended for me

I want to - once again - express my gratitude towards the creators of Mission: Rejected for creating the character of Skip Granger. I know he‘s fictional (and there‘s so much to unpack in terms of people reminding me every single time that I‘m excited about my interests that these are fictional stories and not real), but the impact is very real in that this little guy is exactly the pebble that I needed to stop the gears from turning. I needed one (1) proof that it‘s possible for someone like me to get the job they want with a superior who doesn‘t fire them over every single tiny mistake and the life they want. Even if it‘s fictional. Because this means that it‘s possible to think. And that‘s what matters. Thank you so much, Chris Klaniecki, for voicing Skip Granger 🙌

Although, to be fair: this one is my excuse to have a few conversations with myself that I should and writing one shots such as Until Something Disconnects helps the process of writing the tragedy that is The Denny‘s Date. It‘s a tragedy because it‘s structured like a classical drama and because Skip dies in this one (as the prologue already stated) and Chet can do nothing to prevent that. You know. My favorite type of love story

more women whump. more women pushing themselves and passing out from sleep deprivation and exhaustion. more women training until their knuckles bleed and their legs give out from under them. more women being held prisoner and remaining stoic until the very end or perhaps when they’re rescued. more women under truth serum and terrifying hallucinogens. more women waking up in a pool of blood, their own and others’ and not knowing what happened but that something is terribly wrong with them. more women falling apart o ly when rescued. more women pushed to their breaking point. more women whump.

Thinking about the whole "there is no platonic explanation for this" thing and how it doesn't account for intense platonic situationships and anyways I think we should start saying "there is no casual explanation for this" bc really what we're talking about is the way the characters in question are Obsessed with each other

Okay, but being for real here: is there a casual explanation for Skip and McGrath? They both have a very interesting set of priorities when in acute danger: in 201: Hazy And Distant Danger, McGrath‘s only coherent thought is "Oh My God, I Killed Skip!" until he shows up doing fine. In 301: Blue Storm Rising, Skip asks for McGrath first. Not Gloria. Not Bowden. In 201, Skip tells the team "I love you" and everyone there - Zelda included - says "I love you" back. Except for McGrath. McGrath hesitates before she says nothing. She does say it back in 209: American Spydol, though. And the list goes on

i DO believe that a good writer can make mischaracterization work. oh there's a character who doesn't normally cry? figure it out!! dissect the character. make the situation cryable for them. make that character cry ugly tears even if it goes against their very nature. YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK!!!

Ya know… I think I have to write a one shot about Chet and Trixie, describing the Night before he told her the next morning, in essence "You‘re the best thing happening to me. I think I‘m happy now" before continuing with that part of Act I Scene I of The Denny‘s Date. There‘s so much to say about that evening and that night - even the morning after - that I can‘t put all into the first scene of the first act. So yeah. Working title "Until Something Disconnects" - CoverTrix Smut on AO3 soon.
