TAKE COVID SERIOUSLY YOUNGINS
So with all the new variations of COVID more and more young and middle aged people are getting it. In the past 2 weeks FOUR people of my acquaintance (2 couples) have contracted COVID.
Both of these couples are healthy, active, and energetic. They've been somewhat cautious but in recent weeks started going out and about a bit more as restrictions relaxed and their vaccine dates were on the horizon.
One of the women contracted COVID 3 days before her appointment for her first shot.
COVID isn't gone, and it's not slowing down, yes we're off the horrifying peak that was this winter but case numbers are still elevated and unless you've received BOTH doses of your vaccine (and have waited 2 weeks) you're not protected.
Furthermore the efficacy of the vaccines against all the new variants is still a bit of an unknown, you're absolutely MORE protected with a vaccine than without but you're not fully protected so caution is important.
Keep limiting your exposure to crowds, even small ones. Keep wearing your mask and staying 6 feet apart in public. Schedule your vaccine and get BOTH doses. Don't spend time with people from outside your home unmasked unless you're ALL fully vaccinated.
