It's that time of year again. Back to school shopping. If anyone would like to help me out I would love you!

Covid-19 really changed my classroom last year and so we're rebuilding the supplies. A lot had to be tossed out when we shut down in a hurry in March of 2020 and again in August when we returned.

Periodically through the school year my school was shut down for quarantine, and my personal classroom was closed and cleaned out twice because of students and myself having Covid.

So I really am starting over in a lot of ways. Any help would be appreciated.

Mini Iron Pour today. We poured about 125 lbs of metal. Normally we pour 2200-2500 lbs in one day. It was a great pour. Lots of newbies. Fun to use the induction furnace for a mini pour! My school went full on virtual Wednesday. We had been in person since we started in August, but we have several teachers now out as close contacts or possible covid cases. With the lack of subs, or even just warm bodies to put in rooms to supervise, we just couldn’t do it.

So for the next two weeks, it’s back to mid-March and April style teaching. And I was supposed to go back to in person on Friday. So I will have been out of my classroom for 6 weeks by the time we come back.

I knew this year was going to be like this, but ugh.

I other news, I watched a student pour salt into water during class today while she should have been taking notes. She is already 3 assignments behind. I cleared my throat to unobtrusively let her know I could see what she was doing and then proceeded to watch her “take notes and plug things into her calculator”.

Seriously, no one wiggles their pencil like that to take notes. Especially not when we’re working on matrices in math.

I seriously don’t know what to do with this kid. Her dad and I have talked, but her big issues is a lack of motivation to do any work. And maturity.
