i think coyotl walks behind halsin and steps in his tracks… halsin stopping so coyotl will bump into him bc he wants to hold hands and coyotl is too busy trying to hide his footprints…

coyotl’s life revolves around essentially being tormented by the fey. he’s a hag’s thrall for most of his early life and is, by all accounts, belongs to a fey court.

it’s the reason he’s so good at magic. its in the same vein as arabella being irrevocably changed after she touches the idol of silvanus. he’s just this powerful mage (pre-tadpole, at least) that’s just inherently a bit off because of his proximity to feywild magic.

i think it’s a funny contrast to halsin whose childhood best friend is a fairy. like, that’s what causes him to become a druid and is why he has such a deep connection to the land. he wins silvanus’ favor and ventures through the shadowfell, which is no simple feat.

i think that’s part of what fascinates coyotl about halsin at first. they’re both fey touched, and he can almost sense that in halsin, but not quite.
