Sicurezza.net

All fingers are pointing to Russia as author of the worst-ever hack of U.S. government.
The Russian Cyberattack Shows Major Flaws in National Cybersecurity DEC.22,2020
“Earlier this month, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency warned federal agencies that a wide-ranging cyberattack had infiltrated a number of government agencies including the Department of Commerce, The Department of Energy, the Treasury. Numerous private sector organizations were also compromised.
The CISA said the hack posed “a grave risk to the Federal Government and state, local, tribal, and territorial governments as well as critical infrastructure entities and other private sector organizations.”
The extent of the breach, and exactly how many organizations within the private and public sector have been affected by this hack, is still unknown.
What does seem to be known is who is responsible for the cyber attack. Officials, including both Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Attorney General William Barr, have said Russia is behind the attacks.
The only one it seems who does not believe the Russians were behind the hack is President Trump, who downplayed the severity of the hack on Twitter over the weekend, and with no evidence, touted the possibility that China may actually have conducted the attack, not Russia.
But the president has less than a month left in office, and President-elect Joe Biden has indicated that he’ll take a more aggressive stance against Russia.
Chris Painter, the U.S’s former top cyber diplomat at the State Department, and Nicole Perlroth, a reporter at The New York Times covering cybersecurity and digital espionage, joined The Takeaway to talk about the cyberattack and what it means for U.S. national security.”

The FSB is mainly responsible for the internal security of the Russian state, counterintelligence, and the fight against organized crime, terrorism, and drug smuggling, whereas overseas espionage is the primary responsibility of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the successor to the KGB
