“Let’s Talk About It: is the 757 the new underlying blueprint in fashion? Has it always been? Atlanta contributions to fashion and how it’s misleading… Let’s talk about it”
Skateboard P! 7 cities own! The latest LV collection was an amazing collection. It was talked about these past few days and some notable names were there. The atmosphere was lovely, real aquatic (don’t copy my word plz if you not wavy) but I couldn’t help but notice that the vibe was real wavy (in Biggavel words owwww) capturing 757 scenery especially P’s city VA Beach. The surfer look matches the Beach scene iykyk but also blends a feel of its sister city Norfolk as well. In attendance tho I saw some noticeable faces one in particular was 757s own Missy Elliot. Great to see, but if I had to critique the show my main critique would be the lack of 757 artist being shown in these events from P.
Don’t get me wrong I love a 757 artist of any kind in that line light, but I see a lot of artists, musicians gravitate to the Atlanta scene more. Same as someone would do in NYC when they’re popular. 7 cities has a thing for cosplaying other regions (mainly this new GenZ era) to get some attention. Look at the new wave of artist, mainstream and underground, you’ll see the influences from a Carti, Thug (mainly these two) etc. The punk rock aesthetic, skate culture mixed with high end fashion is the new trend. But I say all that to say, is Atlanta really fly? When it comes to fashion has Atlanta ever been known for “fashion” or being fly? Ppl say 3stacks but those bold pieces were done by Busta, Missy and more. Artistic expressionism is something that we all love but when you think of the fashion scene and fashion world when has Atlanta been fly?
And this is by means no shot at ATL, they’re one of the biggest scenes for African American culture, but again fashion culture was never them. Migos were dressing in all Versace during their debut, TI and Dro was dressing in Polo. Jeezy all black Tees. The list goes on. Gunna and Lil Baby were just putting things together (terrible fits, no style) and they led you to believe that’s “drip”. ATL was stripper and player culture heavy in the early 2000s and 90s.
As time goes on you see the likes of a Playboi Carti, Young Thug, UnotheActivist and more embrace this new era of fashion but again their fashion changed once linking with people like BloodyOsiris, Bloody Dior, Ian Connor (lol we ain’t go get on cuhddy for his actions we’re speaking on his influence on ppl that’s all) A$AP Mob and more.
Again this is no shade to Atlanta but if you look back in history they weren’t fashionable or fly. The lifestyle is what drew us in to Atlanta. D Boyz, Strippers, Pimps, the women etc. Now you look and everyone is “fashionable” or stylish. Yet years ago these ppl had no style. No disrespect but can you say you’re stylish or fly when proof shows you didn’t have a great eye for style until you possibly got a stylist. Young Thug last year posted a video wearing rings calling the Mac & Cheeses the B&B (🥩🥦) *NYC to VA knows the differences lol but that’s an example of someone following the trends and not sticking to their culture. Culture knows the differences and the facts.
Atlanta has always been a major impact on the culture for African Americans, but when you see the blueprint for fashion over the past 20 years it’s hard to deny the impact of P! You see the vision of the 757 in his work. As much as it goes unnoticed you’ll be amazed this statement. But think about it, Snoop, Hov, Ye, and more have been inspired by the fashion of P.
Now do I think P should give more opportunities for 757 artist, yes! By far. But also the 757 has lost its touch due to constant dickriding of other places and ppl. Is ATL fly? No, not historically. But that’s not belittling their accomplishments in the culture. Is a man from the 757 changing fashion and having everyone dress like him? Yes. It’s clear as day and in plain sight a lot of these entertainers have no style and aren’t fly. It’s plain to see how much influence 757 alone has made an impact on the culture!
Think about it!
Maybe one day it’ll be another person who explains this, maybe a kid or another visionary will show you the truth and the way 757 has changed the game, I’m just the messenger and observer!

COZYFILEZ ISSUE 002 SATURDAY
ISSUE 002 will be “IS ATLANTA REALLY FLY”? Their contribution to fashion and understanding maybe they’re not the fashionable city they portray.
Sidebar- COZYFILEZ “What We Talkin Bout” isn’t taking anything away from NYC just pointing out how much the people from 757 who push the culture and movement are the some of the biggest names for inspiration and how our fashion sense shaped the world essentially and in my humble opinion we coexist with NYC. We just didn’t have the big stage. Once we made it to big stage you saw and took notice of us. 757 ONLY.
PSA- NORFOLK AKA WAVY CITY I STAMPED & CREATED🌊WE BEEN SAYING WAVU FAR AS IN 757 BEFORE ANYONE IN VA.. SHOUTOUT MAX B THO
COZYFILEZ- WHAT WE TALKIN BOUT?
Today’s take is on fashion… maybe a hot take I should say
But we all know NYC is the Mecca of fashion. The confidence, boldness, and sheer flamboyant spirit that comes with the city gives them that jazzy sense of style. A lot of it is rooted in southern culture as well but it’s something that those bright lights and big stage does that brings the best out of ppl.
Example I grew up in Norfolk VA, 757- 7 cities. Grandfather from Brooklyn, Aunt from Bronx, uncle is from Harlem and more. So that snazz was something I looked forward to seeing.
But the older I got I started to wonder… is NYC really the trendsetting city of the world? What makes them so special? A lot of questions I had to ask myself.
Is it possible that it isn’t that they start the trends, but is it that being that NYC ppl branch out and move down south or Southerns go to NYC maybe it’s that they pick up on these fashion pieces and statements and once they bring it in the limelight of New York City that’s when the world takes notice.
Is it possible that they’ve (not stolen) but bitten a lot of other areas style and being that the world looks at NYC maybe they’ve gotten the title of the most fashionable city.
It’s the diversity! Other places possibly aren’t tapping into that.
But also let’s make it clear… a lot of trends have started in NYC but also maybe a lot haven’t came from NYC. It’s the lure of being from NYC everybody wants to have. And NO being born in New York State is different from being from New York City. Ask a Virginian is being from the Smithfield the same as the 757 (we’re the culture of VA) it’s not the same. You’ll meet a lot of fake New Yorkers nowadays because of the internet. TRANSPLANTS 😂 You can’t fake the cultural impact! If we’re being honest the biggest impact on culture for African Americans especially in fashion, pop and urban culture comes from people from the 757. Pharrell changed the landscape of fashion and music before Kanye. Allen Iverson changed fashion in sports.
Missy Elliot changed music and is one of the pioneers for female MCs with her bold statements. When you look at it and think about it, NYC and the 757 (757 ONLY) coexist when it comes to changing the culture.
Am I saying VA (757 only) should be looked at for its contributions yes. Am I saying NYC isn’t a trendsetting city No. But I do think maybe just maybe the credit we give them for a lot of cultural changes to fashion wasn’t created by them but more so because they have the big stage maybe it wasn’t seen before they brought it on that big stage.
