Does pre-Sith Braig get sent to the galley to peel space-potatoes as punishment a lot? I feel like he's maybe really good at peeling space-potatoes. And that he's friends with the cook because of it.

Oh, man. I don’t know. 

He’s been living at the temple since he was about four months old, so I think they’re all used to him, there, but– He still caused more than his fair share of chaos. 

I think it’d really depend on how old he was, how bad he hecked up, and, most importantly, who caught him. He might be able to convince someone like Obi-Wan to not put him on cleaning duty over something minor (because I am small and adorable and you know I’m your favourite right) but. Good luck sweet-talking Windu, Billaba, or any of the other more- Formal, shall we say, council members.

If he did something stupidly reckless on a mission, he’d definitely get punished, since that’s less “Stop drawing faces on the training droids” and more “You could have gotten yourself/others killed”. If he embarrassed Anakin in front of Padme, he’d at LEAST get a nasty tongue-lashing for it (And, c’mon, Braig’s good at messing positive relationships up. Doubt it’d do anything to the lovebirds, but, still.)

However. Being friends with the kitchen staff? You can bet little bitty baby Braig would bust out of the nursery, and, if he wasn’t following one of his favourite Masters around, or sneaking peeks at the padawan training, he’d be down in the kitchen, perched on a counter, helping the cooks taste-test with the most innocent little doe eyes. He was a tiny charmer, that one, and he probably still goes to the kitchen a lot to get himself snacks for the nights he stays up ‘til dawn reading or tampering with his weapons (He doesn’t do much to his blasters except clean/polish them and keep them in working order, but I’d bet my life that he raids the archives for relevant information and goes on rehashing sprees to make his ‘sabers better).

He uses them to peel the potatoes, some times. It helps with precision.

The chefs are a bit less appreciative of this than you’d think.

Rodi and I have been developing this for a decent amount of time and it’s the most tragic AU I have so far because there is NO string of events that don’t involve Braig going Sith and/or dying (usually both). And I think we all know what happens to Obi. 

Anyway, I’m gonna try to keep this to headcanons I have yet to share with anyone but. We’ll see.

- Rodi put forward the idea of Baby Braig (Like, nursery ages, 3-4) being able to use the Force, and knocking things off tables like a house cat. And I love this, but, consider please the idea of someone making the mistake of praising him and/or cuddling him when he does it, because “Ah, the youngling is gifted!” AND BRAIG JUST CAUSES MAYHEM BECAUSE HE WAS TOLD THIS WAS A GOOD THING TO DO.

- Obi-Wan has ALWAYS been Braig’s favourite person ever, from teaching him how to walk back when Obi was a young knight to scratchy beard tickles when Braig was 3-4 to following Obi-Wan down the halls trying to mimic how he walked when Braig was a bit older. As he grew up, the hero worship/idolization stayed, and Braig holds Obi in the highest regard to the point of ‘Can Do No Wrong’ and, once he becomes Obi’s padawn, blind loyalty (which, of course, goes terribly wrong). 

- Braig’s lightsaber is purple. He technically has two, and they join together into a double-sided version - like how, in KH, he fights with two smaller guns that can merge into a bigger one. He also carries a set of blasters, which Obi-Wan was slightly frustrated about, since he seemed to take to them much better than he did sabers. Now, they just serve as back-up weapons and things to do party tricks with.

- Bitty Baby Braig had a tiny crush on Anakin. It’s not the same sort of blatant admiration and adoration he had (has) for Obi-Wan - it more consisted of ‘Wow, you’re pretty, and cool, and strong, and WOW’ and manifested in like. Six or seven-year-old Braig hiding behind Obi’s leg and peering out every so often whenever Anakin showed up. As he got older, the crush faded, and, once he’s Obi-Wan’s padawan, he actually doesn’t like Anakin that much - not because of anything Anakin did, but because Braig’s natural inferiority complex is not helped by the fact that he’s living in the shadow of ~*Anakin Skywalker*~ the war hero/prodigy/Chosen One, who was Obi’s padawan before Braig was. He behaves himself, though, and doesn’t act on this dislike, since he knows Obi’s still close to Annie and he doesn’t wanna get in the way.

- Braig’s areas of study/Padawan beads are yellow (Weapons specialization) and black (Covert operations)

- Braig probably hurt himself doing a lot of stupid experiments with the Force. It’d be anything from ‘How neatly can I write my name without touching the pencil” to “How many training droids can I take out with my sabers from across the room” to “WAIT CAN I LIFT MYSELF”

- Braig does really bad impressions of the Jedi Masters behind closed doors. He’s best at Yoda.

- Obi-Wan has corrected his Mace Windu imitation before.

- Braig almost NEVER calls Obi-Wan ‘master’ - always Gramps or Old Man. Obi-Wan allows this, and the looks it earns hose two are pretty impressive.

- “Best foot forward.”

- Braig spends most nights staring up at the stars, thinking about all the adventures he’ll have when he gets to be a full-fledged Jedi. In the Post-Slavers Sith!Sub-AU (Fifteen year old falls to the dark side, heck yes) we had, this gets replaced with just staring at the sky, thinking about how broken and irredeemable most societies and planets as a whole tend to be.

- Braig is very cuddly and physical with people he likes. Obi-Wan doesn’t seem to mind. They’ve actually fallen asleep together a few times - either A) Because Baby Braig tried to wake Obi up at some absurd time and Obi-Wan just rolled over and smushed him; B) to protect each other/need to stay close (Freed Slave sub-verse) or C) Braig just fell asleep leaning on Obi and he didn’t have the heart to wake him up (Post-Slave Sith and Post-Order 66 Reunion)

- Braig has called Obi-Wan ‘dad’ before. Always on accident, but also always when he’s not awake enough to notice.

- When Braig heard about Luke in the canon storylines, the first words out of his mouth were “Oh, great, another Skywalker.”

- Once, just to see what would happen, Braig shot one of his blasters at his lightsabers. This did not go well.

- On a completely unrelated note, he got his eye scar from a blaster shot, and his other face scar from a lightsaber. 

- I’m serious they’re actually unrelated. Also, he doesn’t wear an eye patch in this AU. Dunno why, it just doesn’t seem to go with Space Braig’s aesthetic.

- Very much considering ‘Novius’ for his Sith title (Novum = ‘new thing’, or nova = super nova) (Darth Novius / Lord Novius. Idk.) 

- BRAIG DEFINITELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT, GOES SITH AT ONE POINT. Whether he gets bored and goes rogue (”Light’s too full of itself and Dark keeps getting its ass handed to it, so, I prefer to be a shady neutral party”) or just betrays them from inside a-la-Xehanort, Idk

- “Just close your eyes, Braig. Close your eyes, and think of the stars.” (This would 100% be how he got his chest scar in this verse c:)

- BRAIG IS A TERRIBLE PILOT AND IT FRUSTRATES BOTH HIMSELF AND OBI-WAN TO NO END

- Braig is also a horrible slacker if he’s not interested in something and has no respect for the rules. Obi-Wan knows how to get him interested in learning new things (Most of it, Braig’s relatively fascinated by, anyways), but I’d imagine this drives a lot of other people nuts

- Still has his scarf and it’s still Eadric’s, but, Eadric wrapped him in it as a blanket when he gave Braig over to the Jedi to raise. Dunno if Eadric’s still alive, but, at the time, he thought A) it would be good for Braig and B) it’s safer than living with him, since he’s a General and can’t be around all the time and Braig might get hurt

- This is all I’ve got for now but this, the keymaster AU, and the hospital AU are probably my three favs bless you Mackie
