Check if the setting is secure: If the situation is not safe then the person conducting CPR must move the patient to a secure area when it's feasible to do so.
Verify if the person is responding: You can do this by tapping their shoulders and asking with a loud voice "Are you ok?" Then, look at the wrist or neck to determine if they have the presence of a pulse. If the person has a pulse, not attempt chest compressions. Instead, move straight to CPR. When there's not a response, and the patient does not have an underlying pulse, start CPR.
Contact 911: If you're alone contact 911 and make the call via speakerphone so that you're left with hands free to administer CPR. If you have a second person at the scene, request them to call 911.
Open the Airway: Examine their throat and mouth to ensure they are free of any obstructions. Clean any blockages that may be in their nose or mouth like blood, vomit, or food. Gently turn their head and raise their the chin.
Take note of the breath: Examine if the patient is having trouble breathing or is not breathing in any way within 10 minutes. If they are breathing normally, place them into the position of recovery and remain in the same position.
CPR: In the event that the victim of cardiac arrest is not breathing begin CPR. The chest compression is the primary component of CPR. Chest compressions are 100-120 compressions per minute.
Automated External Defibrillator: When an AED is on hand to be used, switch it on and connect pads to the chest of the victim. A AED will check the heart rate every two minutes, and will deliver the victim a shock when needed. Keep providing CPR during every analysis cycle.
