it's 2 am and i am reeling from the realization that even after resurrection, wei wuxian still has absolutely no idea that wen qing and jiang cheng - arguably two of the most fundamental people to his personhood - had a fucking comb thing going on.

I just think that alchemist/scientist/physician wen qing's aesthetic would be super minimalist, practical, austere even, but sect leader wen qing™ would be decked out in corals and obsidian and rubies and black pearls, heavy robes and subtly but expertly painted face, like queen amidala in phantom of menace level dramatic.

i'm starting to feel like cql and mdzs are...not the same crowd of ppl. it's gotten to the point where i just don't wanna see mdzs meta on my dash, bc unless you read it in chinese, it's just... so off. and im blaming that shit ENTIRELY on the english translations because reading it...the ideas and emotions just don't come across the same way AT ALL. whereas even if the subtitles are bad, human emotions are shared experiences and you can see it on the faces of the actors and that helps with the understanding

i am hmmm about 92% sure that as far as parallels go, the only thing lan xichen was trying to say about their parents' relationship vs wangxian's relationship is that hey listen our dad liked a socially shunned killer...that didn't go well, and now wangji is gonna do the same thing, that shit is probably also not gonna go well.

and the irony is at the end he's like oh shit i also loved a psychopath. so after ruminating on this for many months the only conclusion that can be drawn is not that their dad is a r*pist or their mom's a victim or lwj has trauma, it's that level of bad decision-making and poor taste in men/women is 100% inheritable.
