Lan Wangji seriously could not get a break from Wuxian, even when he tried.

He tries to stop wuxian and jiang cheng from accompanying him and Xichen to Biling lake, but the ever-supportive Xichen of course brings them along. Goes to the cold pond to heal in peace, and Xichen sends wuxian there as well.

Honorable Wangji wants to find the yin iron pieces and suppress them in the cold pond, and tells wuxian that it’s a domestic affair of the Lan sect and wuxian does not need to interfere. But even Lan Yi ships them and agrees that Wuxian’s help would be good.

I love how CQL starts with all these dark, mysterious background music and visuals that emphasize how powerful and evil Wei Wuxian is. How the world is happier with him gone, and how he was such a traitor to the Jiang Sect who helped and nurtured him.

Then the first few things that this almighty, epitome of evil, ultimate badass does is lament as to why he was resurrected, steal a pack of peanuts, complains that it isn’t tasty and throws a childish tantrum in front the Lan clan cultivators and everyone at Mo Manor.

When my friend introduced CQL to me, I only heard 4 words in relation to it: Gay guys hunting ghosts. Another friend told me it was similar to Teen Wolf. So I knew it was supernatural related and had gay characters.

So when CQL opened up with this, my brain went “Ooooohhhh.. vampires!”

It took me more than a few episodes to realize that there actually weren’t any vampires... 😒
