Avantika and Fjord's scene is so fucking iconic, because he goes thinking he can squeeze a few information out of this, and in the end, he's lying to her face like lying liar who lies, she calls him on it, he bails and reveals he knew Vandren, she makes the calculation that the orb is still out there where the ship sank much quicker than him, he's forced to reveal where exactly, she's forcing the timeline much quicker than he & the Mighty Nein anticipated, AND she profits of her victory to try and sleep with him while he panicks-agrees to sleep with her :
pirates arc in a nutshell
one of my favourite things about the Fluffernutter gambit is the first time they try to use it leads to one of the few examples of Sam, a man who loves being told no, pushing back on a Matt ruling and it’s hilarious
2x39 he’s adamant the gunpowder barrel is waterproof
2x40 he makes his case to Matt and flames out
the hilarious face of a man who desperately wants to argue with the DM but is ideologically opposed to such things
Genuinely though, we all joke about bad things constantly happening to Fjord every time he goes out onto the ocean, but the resilience it shows that he’s like, “No, this is temporary, this is my home and nothing is going to change that.”
“Well I’m a human with no magical abilities, so I’m gonna run.”
