Look hard. “Mother and baby. The long-tailed macaque, aka crab-eating macaque, is an inquisitive primate native to Southeast Asia. I took this picture years ago while on @natgeo assignment in Danum Valley, in Malaysian Borneo. Some refer to this monkey as an agricultural pest, others revere them as sacred animals, and they've been used for years in medical experiments. I have followed large groups of this macaque species, which has a clear female dominance hierarchy. They are incredibly opportunistic omnivores, and I have even experienced them using tools to obtain food in the rainforests of Borneo. Photo by Mattias A. Klum @mattiasklumofficial”
