Wait guys how do I do the crabs😭
Of course Branderson couldn’t talk about a vacation without mentioning the crabs he saw at the beach
Instead of writing I watched the Maltese Falcon and ate my feelings away through a mini pint of green tea ice cream how’s your Wednesday
Watched Trigun (1998) lately and i have thoughts
Guys i have a confession, i... i don't really care for Jax. I'm not very compelled by him.
Please someone give me company in my limited Jax ecstasy compared to most. I mean i don't think he's bad just kinda... alright?
Like idk i feel as if he was always the same, since the first episode you could see he was the guy who acts like an asshole because he doesn't wanna get attached to anything because "bluhhh blufgh hbluhhgthhh we're in the circuuuss nothing maaatteerrsss". It's this sort of flat nihilism that i see often in characters [EG Rick from Rick&Morty, though it bothers me less in his case for a series of factors] that made me initially believe i despised nihilism and thought it was extremely dumb, before realizing later in my life i am in fact a nihilist at my core.
There's also the fact his central design feature is being tall and skinny which i don't much like: as soon as i saw him and what people thought of him i went "ugh yeah that tracks, people love the twinkbait bunny boy alright". (This may be influenced by the fact i too am tall and skinny and don't always like being summarized as such)
[Spoilers for episodes 7 and 6 respectively in the following two paragraphs]
I think certain scenes are compelling, like the one in episode 7 (iirc) where he has this sort of psychedelics trip which is revealed at the end of the scene to be what the beginning of an abstraction looks like, when he's woken up and for a moment we see his eyes are like those of the abstracted; think that was a very good scene and it left a strong impact.
Conversely, i thought a lot of the emotional weight of Pomni's betrayal scene from episode 6 was undermined by how predictable of an ending it was. Of course in the end despite all the fun they seemed to have had, Jax was gonna say "noo actually that didn't mean anything we're not friends i'm mean blah blah blah" i just don't know. I just don't know.
Maybe on an eventual rewatch i'll have a different, more favorable opinion; i noticed his tail reappeared the episode after he noticed it was gone and i'd like to go back and see whether he did or did not have it in the previous ones, as i'm sure there's a meaning to that i haven't figured out. Anyway that's my Jax ramble. Byebye thanks for reading if you did
I wante dto post something byt i forgor
