it's been a few years now. a quiet little boy grew into a bold young woman. skylar, or sky, is still crackerjack's best friend. gender is temporary, but certain friendships are forever.

Crackerjack and Sammy are two neighbors of Pillow. Both are eleven, and come from two very different houses. Sammy spends most of his time outside to avoid the angry hands of his mother, and Crackerjack is simply the kind of kid to throw rocks at trains.

Naturally, they became best friends.

When the cracks began to form, Pillow offered to pay them if they kept an eye on the cracks and reported back to Pillow every now and again.

No one expected this to put a target on the kids' backs. After seeing them in prison, JD snuck them out during their escape. The kids came up with the plan for everyone to fake their own deaths, and managed to sneak to another continent with JD.
