“Brilliant birthday treat” We had a wonderful time creating pottery with Alex. It was booked as a birthday treat and Alex and Blue were so flexible and helpful when we were sorting out the details. Both adults and children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and Alex Mareli21 St Albans, United Kingdomwas a great teacher. Highly recommended. Visited October 2015
“A fab day throwing pots” I bought this as a surprise birthday gift for my husband and we both really enjoyed it. The 2 of us had a good 6 hours at the wheel, first being shown the ropes by Alex then being let loose to make our own items whilst still under his close supervision. We made about 8 things each and at the end of the day chose our favourite 2 each which we painted with slip to be left with Alex for glazing and firing. A lovely lunch was provided by Alex's wife Blue and drinks were on hand all day. We're really looking forward to receiving our mugs and bowls in the post in a months time. My husband seemed to have a natural flare for it but even I managed to produce a reasonable bowl and mug, and above all we had a great day, one which we would recommend to anyone who would like to try something a bit different. Well worth the money. mandy6981 west mids. Visited November 2015

Day 1
The workshop starts at 10am. After tea/coffee, introductions and initial demonstration you will be taken as a group, step by step, through the pot throwing process. Once you have got the hang of things, you will be encouraged to develop at your own pace with individual tutoring as and when required. Around 1pm, a light lunch consisting of bread, cheese, salad and fruit is served. In the afternoon there will be further demonstrations after which you will work larger lumps of clay, make bigger pots and explore different shapes and forms. At the end of the day and once the wheels have been cleaned, you will select 1 or 2 of your best pots to be left at the Pottery for firing and glazing. The remaining wet pots can either be re-claimed or taken away on the day at cost.
If you are participating in the weekend workshop, the results of your labour from day one will be left to dry overnight.
Day 2
Your pots from Saturday are now “leather-hard‟ and ready to be turned. After a demonstration you will learn how to throw foot-rings, add handles and other motifs. Colour can be added at this stage using an exciting range of coloured under-glazes and decorating slips. Following lunch participants choose from the range of demonstrated techniques to finish 3-5 pots (dependant on weight) to be left for firing and glazing. The workshop concludes with a brief review of each others achievements and creativity. The weekend ends at 5pm.
Your fabulous creations will be left with us to dry thoroughly before they go into the kiln. Once they have been fired and glazed, we‟ll carefully wrap and dispatch your finished pots to your home address. You will be delighted at the professional results when they arrive on your doorstep approximately one month later.
Cost: £85 a day £155 weekend. Includes refreshments, lunch, all materials, firing, glazing and the cost of posting your finished masterpieces.

Perfect stress relieving activity. The therapeutic benefits of working with soft clay on the potter‟s wheel are considerable. Participants often leave the studio on Sunday afternoon feeling totally de-stressed and with an overwhelming sense of well-being. “We both thoroughly enjoyed the session as we learnt so much in just a few hours. If anyone is looking for something different, new, fun and not done before then we would thoroughly recommend this experience. We have already told some of our friends and work colleagues about it.We were both made extremely welcome by both of you and the studio, surroundings and your friendliness made everything perfect for both of us.Your approach to demonstrating and teaching us new practical skills was also a pleasure with your laid back and easy going approach. The light lunch was also excellent (more than enough to eat) and it was nice to chat to you both.We would both love to have another go especially the throwing and will recommend it to anyone.Looking forward to seeing our creations in a few weeks time. Finally thank you for the action photos of our day - absolutely fab
Once again thank you both very much, and look forward to meeting again” commented a recent punter.

Courses for Term 1
We now run 3 courses in partnership with Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community College.
Fundamentals is a course for beginners and introduces leadlight and copper foil construction. Learn the basic techniques of stained glass and copper foil. In this course you will build both a simple leadlight panel and a piece of three dimensional copper foil work. This course focuses on introducing you to the process involved in the construction of each craft. You will also get an introduction to basic OH&S, tools and materials. No prior knowledge or skills are required. There is no need to purchase any tools to give this course a go. All you need is a pair of flat, closed toe shoes. If you’ve ever thought about building your own stained glass panel this is the easiest, no strings attached way to jump in with both boots! A materials fee of $50 will be collected by the tutor on the first night.
Refine your Technique is for those already familar with leadlighting or copperfoil who want the opportunity to develop and improve their skills undertaking projects of personal interest. In this intermediate level course you will choose to undertake a project of your own choice in either Stained Glass (leadlight) or Copper foil. Working on a project of personal interest you will advance your technical skills and knowledge of either stained glass or copper foil under close tutelage of one of the industries most respected Master craftsman. A selection of projects will be available for you to choose from on the first night. If you already have a project in mind you should consult with the tutor before enrolment. For returning students who want to move on to entirely individual projects, such as an intended project for your home, we strongly recommend attending the one day course in Stained Glass design. To undertake this course it is assumed that you have previously done a beginners course and are able and confident in cutting basic shapes in glass.
Stained Glass Design is a 1 day intensive to bring critical knowledge and practical design foundation skills to hobbyists. The course is intended to facilitate hobbyists to undertake personal projects of their own design. This course transitions individuals re-enrolling in “Refining Technique (Stained Glass)” from structured projects to individual projects entirely of their own design. In this course you will: • Be introduced to relevant architectural and stained glass genres and trends. • Be introduced to relevant building codes and legislative concerns. • Through three technical drawing exercises participants will learn: • How to “measure up” and translate that effectively to designs. • Drafting panel designs incorporating basic matrixes. • Application of complex design in glass
