LauderAle’s 3rd Anniversary Festival
LauderAle’s anniversary is pulling out all the stops to celebrate. The festival is going to be a doozy, with food trucks, music, their best lineup yet.
The post LauderAle’s 3rd Anniversary Festival appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
The folks behind LauderAle proudly boasts that their taproom plays host to more events than any other brewery in the area, from yoga and brunch to live music of all gengres, full moon parties with fire-breathing dancers and much more. However, LauderAle’s anniversary is pulling out all the stops to celebrate on July 28th and 29th.
The weekend-long festival is going to be a doozy, with 10 barrel-aged beers, brewed up especially for the big bash, food trucks, live music, plus dozens of other new, specialty beers and treatments, their best lineup yet.
The party will take place during normal business hours of the brewery 12pm-1am on Saturday and 11am-9pm on Sunday, rain or shine. There will be other surprises leading up to and the day of the event, plus that Sunday, there will be a jazz brunch.
For member’s of the famed Captain’s Club, LauderAle will be opening up an hour earlier (11am) on Saturday. In that hour, members will get one free beer and the early opportunity to purchase limited edition bottle and can releases, as well as first dibs on where to sit or stand.
On Sunday, the crew will be opening up the Captain’s Club to new member signups, which are $75 dollars. Don’t hesitate, because spots in the club are limited. Sunday, they will be opening earlier as well, sampling special beers to be poured that day only.
Under Airplanes and Between Boats
LauderAle has gone from a five-gallon bucket to a must-visit treasure, celebrated in Fort Lauderdale and all over South Florida. LauderAle took home a gold medal at the 2016 Best Florida Beer Championships, and a silver medal at the 2017 event. What an adventure that started from just a conversation between friends.
Just like every great idea, LauderAle was conceived between friends over a few beers. Owners Joey Farrell and Kyle Jones stumbled upon this idea one night at a local craft beer bar. While bantering about possible inventions and other business ideas, the one that stuck was how fun and adventurous it would be to own a brewery.
And now, almost 3 years later, they own and operate a destination brew house. Located right near the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades, LauderAle was Fort Lauderdale’s first nano-brewery, but there will be nothing nano about their 3rd Anniversary.

3 Stories Behind Athlete-Inspired Breweries
Sports and craft beer are both known for bringing people together, and that’s exactly what owners of these athlete-inspired breweries want to accomplish.
The post 3 Stories Behind Athlete-Inspired Breweries appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
Brewing beer isn’t easy. You study. You practice. You make mistakes. You practice more. You take notes and you take advice. Eventually, you get better.
Runners, cyclists and swimmers are wired that same way: They set goals. They train. They have setbacks. There are races that go wrong, and some that go right.
When you realize the similarities between the two, it makes total sense that people who are driven on a race course would be drawn to brewing.
And the similarities go beyond personality traits. The founders of Ghost Runners, Sufferfest and Headlands Brewing know that both sports and craft beer bring people together — and that’s exactly what they’re looking to accomplish.
(LEARN: CraftBeer.com’s Big List of Beer Schools)
Sufferfest: A Health Scare Leads to Brewing Beer
Caitlin Landesberg learned those technical aspects when a health issue led her to homebrewing. That hobby became what’s now a successful business.
Landesberg was a college tennis player and remains an avid runner. She’s always eaten well and stayed in good shape, but about five years ago, she started feeling lousy. Her hair fell out. She had migraines. She had ulcers.
“I was really sort of discombobulated,” she says. She didn’t know why she felt so bad.
Landesberg was running an overnight leg during an ultra relay race when she was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered she had a thyroid deficiency likely caused by a food allergy.
Caitlin started brewing after a health scare. (Credit: Sufferfest Beer Co.)
After eliminating various things from her diet — dairy, caffeine, sugar — Landesberg removed gluten and started seeing changes.
Within 10 days, her health problems were going away, she says. “It was like I was superhuman.”
Accustomed to finishing a trail race and filling her commemorative glass with the local beer, Landesberg began bringing gluten-free beer to events. But none of them were quite the flavors she was looking for.
So Landesberg, after receiving the gift of brewing lessons from her husband, Stuart, started homebrewing.
It began as a “selfish” act, she says. “I wanted to drink the same beer as everybody else.”
“Sufferfest was never really supposed to be anything,” Landesberg tells us. “This was a happy accident. This was a hobby that turned into a glorified hobby.”
Two years ago, she sat down with her husband and decided to make a go at turning that hobby into a real business. Landesberg says she’d realized, “If I don’t scratch this itch, I will always be itching.”
Landesberg had always worked in high-tech product and brand marketing. She knew brewing beer wasn’t her core skill set, but tells us her competitive nature pushed her to keep making better beer.
Eventually, Landesberg passed out her gluten-removed beer to friends, family and even top runners she respected. She wouldn’t mention it was different than other beer. She says it was an awesome feeling to watch them drink it — and like it — without realizing it was gluten-removed.
They’d give it a year, the Landesbergs decided, and Sufferfest shipped its first beers in March 2016.
Now, Suffferfest distributes its Taper IPA, Summit Blonde and Epic Pilsner to about 340 placements in California, from Lake Tahoe to Los Angeles.
(LEARN: 75+ Popular Craft Beer Styles)
The name of her company developed organically. Landesberg had always called beer “sufferfest,” a word that refers to the suffering endurance athletes experience during an event, as well as the sense of camaraderie afterward.
Milestones and personal experiences often tie into Landesberg’s beers: She created Epic for her wedding; An injury inspired Taper.
“If I don’t scratch this itch, I will always be itching.” ~Caitlin Landesberg, Sufferfest Beer Co. Founder
Earlier this year she gave birth to her baby girl, Frances. Soon after, she, “wanted the beer that’s going to get me out of this postpartum body and back in shape.”
She envisioned which beer would be in her hand after that first big run, on a hot, sunny day, “when you’re just dripping sweat,” she says. The answer was the Summit Blonde.
“We’re an outdoor brand that loves our beer,” Landesberg says.
At first, she was worried that mindset might be the company’s biggest disadvantage. But it’s “become something that’s defined us,” she says.
Ghost Runners: An “Out-of-Body Experience”
Like Landesberg, Jeff Seibel has long viewed beer as his reward at the end of a run or workout. He and his wife Amy own Ghost Runners Brewery in Vancouver, Washington. They started it in 2012 in a backyard shed.

Jeff Seibel got into running after watching Amy compete in a Muddy Buddy ride and run 10K relay. The next year, he and Amy joined forces in the event and placed second in their age group. That race hooked him for good.
The name of the brewery itself refers to that “kind of out-of-body experience on an eight- or 10-mile run where … you can do it forever,” Seibel says.
It’s not just runners who can relate. He says all athletes — “whether you’re a swimmer or climb Mount Hood.”
That first year, Ghost Runners self-distributed to six or seven local restaurants and bars.
(READ: Craft Beer Bars That Changed Their City’s Beer Scene)
“They kept buying and rebuying and rebuying,” Seibel says.
In 2015, Ghost Runners purchased its current digs, a 10-barrel brewing facility with a tasting room in an industrial park between two freeways in the middle of Vancouver.
“Not a lot of cool things to see when you’re running out here,” Seibel says. “That’s why the attraction of the Waterfront to us was highly important.”
Seibel is referring to the company’s second location, a brewpub set to open next spring or summer as part of The Waterfront Vancouver, the city’s estimated $1.5-billion, 32-acre development along the Columbia River.

Seibel said the brewpub will be “casual, family friendly, laid back.” He expects its proximity to local running groups and its outdoor seating to attract runners.
(COOK WITH BEER: 5 Cookie Recipes That Use Beer)
Ghost Runners’s beers have running-themed names as well, including Running Up Pils, the Out ‘N Back Amber, 5K IPA and the Pre-HOPtaine.
The brewery used to have an imperial stout called Fartlek, a term for a training method that involves alternating periods of faster running with slower running. That beer met with questions — “What the heck is a fartlek?” — and Ghost Runners’s own bartenders and servers didn’t want to say the name. (The Seibels have since changed the name to Strong Leg.)
Seibel said the new brewpub will be the perfect place to experiment with wild beers.
Headlands: Adrenaline Junkies Open a Brewery
Phil Cutti and Patrick Horn are no strangers to adventure. And they say a lot of those adventures either begin or end with a beer.
Cutti and Horn are the co-founders of California’s Headlands Brewing Company. They originally met through homebrewing and open water endurance swimming, and then launched the brewery in July 2014.
Cutti has long been a member of Night Train Swimmers, a group that raises money for charity by completing what it calls “unprecedented” and record-setting swims. Cutti had joined the group when a broken back waylaid his running (triathlons, marathons and ultrarunning) and he turned to swimming to “feel human again.”
When Horn’s wife, Laura, joined Night Train Swimmers, Horn began serving as co-captain on the boat for some swims.

“We just had a really strong relationship built out of that,” Cutti says. The two figured if they could survive those swims, they could handle being in business together.
“It kind of fortified our relationship and also the ethos of the company,” Cutti says. “We’re a lifestyle beer brand that goes out and does conservancy work.”
Horn recalls one night at dusk when he was driving the boat while Cutti was swimming.
“I look back over the stern and see this fin pop up,” Horn recalls. The shark started trailing the boat. Horn had somebody else grab the wheel. “And I head back toward the stern. Of course, we have not told Phil this,” Horn says. “Phil does not need to know that there’s teeth about 20 yards behind him.”
The shark got even closer before the noise of the diesel engine scared it away.
And Cutti recalls being in the water as the sun was setting – prime feeding time, and watching large numbers of jellyfish come to the surface.
(MORE: 6 Vegan-Friendly Brew Pubs)
“It’s uncanny how many times that you’re trying to avoid this thing and they hit you smack in the ribs,” Cutti says. “And it is literally like being shocked.”
Once Horn and Cutti launched Headlands, they would have what Horn calls “little strategy sessions (on the boat) in the middle of total chaos.”
Headlands has four core beers that it distributes mainly throughout the greater Bay Area, and Cutti and Horn rotate seasonal brews in throughout the year. The beers carry names that evoke the region Cutti and Horn call home: Wolfback Ridge, Hill 88, Pt. Bonita and
Hawk Hill.
Headlands Brewing sponsors local events like beach and trail clean ups. They also support organizations including the San Francisco Baykeeper, Shark Stewards and the Pints for Prostates campaign.
“We want to be known as a good steward of the community,” Horn says.

A New Winner Tops Zymurgy’s ‘Best Beers in America’ 2017 Contest
Zymurgy Magazine has released its annual “Best Beers in America” survey results, and there’s a new No. 1 beer for the first time in nine years.

Zymurgy Magazine has released its annual “Best Beers in America” survey results, and there’s a new No. 1 beer for the first time in nearly a decade.
Zymurgy readers named Bell’s Two Hearted Ale as the best beer in the magazine’s 2017 contest.
Two Hearted’s win brings an end to Pliny the Elder’s eight-year reign at the top of the annual poll.
(VISIT: Find a U.S. Craft Brewery)
“The Best Beers in America survey reveals which beers are leaving the biggest impression on the minds—and mouths—of these discerning beer drinkers,” says Gary Glass, director of the American Homebrewers Association (AHA), which publishes Zymurgy Magazine. (AHA is an organization for homebrewers within the Brewers Association (BA). The BA publishes CraftBeer.com).
Bell’s CEO Laura Bell says it’s a special honor, since homebrewing inspired her father Larry to start the Kalamazoo, Michigan, brewery in 1985.
“We take a lot of that spirit into what we do today,” she says.

Zymurgy’s “2017 Best Beers in America” Results
The online survey asked AHA members to choose up to 20 of their favorite commercial beers available for purchase in the U.S.
Michigan’s Bell’s Brewery took two spots in the contest’s top five beers.

There were also a few ties in the top 10 list. You can see the full results of the Best Beers in America 2017 at HomebrewersAssociation.org.
The survey also asked readers to rank top breweries, top imported beers and breweries’ overall portfolios. Get all the 2017 Best Breweries & Beer by state here.

Independent Brewer to Celebrate Set Beer Free Day
Officials declared July 1st, Set Beer Free Day in 2016 and Reformation Brewery in Woodstock, Georgia is carrying on the tradition in 2017.
The post Independent Brewer to Celebrate Set Beer Free Day appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
Woodstock, GA – County and state officials declared July 1st, Set Beer Free Day in 2016 and Reformation Brewery in Woodstock, Georgia is carrying on the tradition in 2017 with a celebration that includes the debut of a new IPA, Variety Box Set with their Belgian-Style favorites, plus local BBQ & live music.
Patrons can celebrate from 1-9pm at Reformation Brewery on Saturday, July 1st and get a taste of the newest in Reformation Brewery’s year-round offerings. Also on tap, award winning BBQ from Four 41 South will be available all day, and live music from local musicians Jonathan Peyton, and Kira Annalise & The Trainwrecks begins around 4pm.
On draft at taps near you beginning July 1st, Oren is an India Pale Ale by style and described as having notes of bright citrus, with a dry, crisp finish. A 12 oz canned pre-release of Oren will be available from the brewery’s tasting room on Set Beer Free Day. Cans are expected to land on shelves at retailers late July.
Reformation’s new IPA, Oren, is “designed for moments of refuge” and is the result of a series of Pioneer test batches — small batch, draft only experiments in the brewery’s tasting room. These Pioneer “Hop Expeditions” allowed brewers to test different hop and malt combinations, and solicit consumer feedback before finalizing the beer. The result is a refreshing, low alcohol IPA with a citrus forward hop aroma.
Also debuting July 1st, Reformation re-introduces three of their core favorites in a Variety Box Set (12 pack) including: Cadence Belgian-Style Ale, Jude Belgian-Style Ale, and Haddy Belgian-Style White Ale. CEO Spencer Nix explains, “We’ve always loved our Belgian’s as a gathering point. They have a way of bringing people together.”
Recent expansion to new markets, including local Savannah retailers and Chattanooga, has Reformation Brewery poised to double capacity this July with the addition of 4 new 100 hectolitre tanks. Three 85 barrel fermenters and one 85 barrel brite tank will increase fermentation space by nearly 4000 barrels annually, for a total capacity of 12,000 barrels of beer per year.
“Sharing your gifts with your neighbor are some of life’s most meaningful moments. The growing pains are real, but the thing about beer is that the work always leads to new connections and that brings us joy,” Spencer Nix adds.
Celebrate the release of Oren on draft and in 12oz cans this July. And look for a Reformation Variety Box Set at independently owned retailers near you July 1st. Learn more at http://ift.tt/2lgkSSA.

We’re pleased to introduce Jester King Saison Americaine — our take on the modern-American, mixed culture saison.
Saison has been an elusive concept in modern brewing. It’s rare to encounter two brewers with precisely the same definition. In fact, the very lack of a clear definition has become somewhat synonymous with the style. For us at Jester King, saison means beer that is uniquely tied to a time, place, and people. We believe it should be inextricably tied to the water, agriculture, and microflora of a place, the seasonal and environmental fluctuations of time, and the desires, palates, and eccentricities of people. Add these variables together, and you get beer that’s entirely unique, incapable of reproduction, and simply would not exist but for this confluence.
Putting aside our general philosophy on saison, there’s another part of the definition that is open to interpretation as well — that is, the amount of sourness or acidity in saison. With plenty of notable exceptions, we think it’s fair to say that the classic, European examples of the style, tend to have less acidity than their New World, American counterparts. We’d argue that America’s love of sour beer has led to more examples of saison that display noticeable levels of acidity. Once again with plenty of exceptions, we believe wood-aged, mixed culture, sour saison has come to be an American hallmark of the style.
Overall, we’d say that we’ve leaned toward the classic, European approach at Jester King when it comes to saison. We’ve been heavily inspired by beers like De Ranke XX Bitter, De la Senne Zinnebir, Thiriez Extra, and Dupont Avril to make beers like Le Petit Prince, Noble King, Mad Meg, and more recently Colonel Toby and Final Entropy. However, in this case with Saison Americaine, we’ve intentionally employed variables such as lower hopping rates, foudre fermentation, and cooler temperatures to create a beer with more pronounced acidity. It’s name — Saison Americaine — refers to a modern-American interpretation of saison.
The creation of more acid driven American saison is something that’s a fairly recent phenomenon in our opinion, having become more common in the last five to ten years it seems. While fully embracing the more bitter, less acidic approach to saison-making, we view this as a good thing! As our artist Josh Cockrell writes, “Tradition without accompanying growth is doomed to decay. It is the metamorphosis of innovation into tradition that fortifies and preserves the foundation of human knowledge that we build upon. Without the continual process of adding new to old, the human legacy would be slowly lost to time.”
Saison Americaine was brewed on October 11th, 2016 with Hill Country well water, Texas pale malt from Blacklands Malt, German Vienna malt, raw wheat, and hops. It was fermented in an oak foudre for about two months with our mixed culture of brewers yeast and native yeast and bacteria. It was packaged on December 12th, 2016 and 100% naturally conditioned. Saison Americaine is unfiltered, unpasteurized, 5.2% alcohol by volume, 14 IBU, 3.2 pH, and has finishing gravity of 1.002 (0.5 degrees Plato). It will be released at Jester King at 4pm on Friday, June 23rd. Saison Americaine will be available by the glass and at bottles to go. We have about 3,300 bottles available (750ml/$14). There’s no bottle limit. We’re uncertain at the present time whether it will be distributed beyond our tasting room.

Crooked Hammock Brewery Welcomes Summer with First Can Release
Crooked Hammock a Lewes, Delaware brewery captures the summer both in their atmosphere and brews. Two of the brewery’s beers will now be available in cans.

Brewpub captures beach lifestyle in their beers
Lewes, DE – What’s better then enjoying a beer paired with being on the beach, after a long paddle, or at a cookout in a beach backyard? As the summer months heat up, most East Coasters head to the shore in search of sand, water, and a great time with friends and family. A local brewpub in the coastal town of Lewes, Delaware, Crooked Hammock Brewery, captures the summer lifestyle both in their atmosphere and brews.
“Crooked Hammock Brewery was designed from the building to the beer program for guest to relish in the backyard beach escape,” says owner Rich Garrahan. “From the environment we created to the craft beers from our brewers, our brews are synonymous with enjoying a day at the beach.” Now, those beers are available in a can to take with to all of Southern Delaware’s beaches and beautiful spots.
Opened in October 2015, Crooked Hammock Brewery is a modern version of the Indian River Life-Saving Station, a Delaware landmark built in 1876 for use by the United States Lifesaving Service. The restaurant is covered with beach décor and custom woodworking and features a backyard beer garden, playground for kids, and a state of the art seven-barrel brewing system.
Crooked Hammock Brewery, one of the top beer and food spots along the Delaware seashore, is set to kick off their second summer with their first ever can release. Two of the breweries top selling beers, Actively Fishing Czech Pilsner and Wai Ola Cali-Style Coconut Ale, will now be available in 12-ounce cans.
“Our favorite season is about to begin, so it’s time to get our beer out to the masses,” says Brewer and Brand Development Manager, Jon Schorah. Summertime at the beach means new crowds and fun brews, two of which will be offered in 12-ounce artisan cans for the first time at the popular Lewes brewery and backyard beer garden. “As our name implies, at Crooked Hammock we relish the warm months and we have developed a ‘uniquely crooked’ summer selection of beers that are both refreshing and capture the spirit of our favorite time of year.” Schorah also points out that now beer drinkers can take Crooked Hammock with them to their own destination with a choice of two new 12-ounce cans.
Actively Fishing, a refreshing Czech Pilsner brewed with Noble hops and a hint of lemon peel, and Wai Ola, a Cali-style coconut ale brewed with organic coconut water and toasted coconut flakes, will be available in a limited number of six packs. “We wanted to offer crisp, thirst-quenching session beers that fit our vibe and complement the fun times outside during the summer months,” Schorah claims. “Now you can take a Hammock home with you for backyard get-togethers, cookouts, a day at the pool, or a day on the beach.”
“So what’s new on tap,” asks Head Brewer Chris Wood. “Some of our favorite craft beers that speak of summer, but still embody our quality standards. Our philosophy is to provide styles of beers that are unique, high quality and sessionable. Crooked Hammock is a destination where people come to have fun and drink quality beer,” says Wood. As brewers we get to use our experience and our passion for crafting beer that embodies the spirit and energy of this unique place.”
“As we have grown, choosing the direction of our brews has been one of the fun aspects of the business. Developing your beer offerings is a big part of your personality, your brand,” says Wood. “For Crooked Hammock, offering unique and approachable beers that meet a high quality standard continues to be our focus.”
“We opened with just six house brews crafted right here in our new facility with five tanks,” explained Crooked Hammock’s founder, Rich Garrahan. “It’s on tap, so guests can enjoy a mug here, or take home one of our signature growlers as long as the limited supplies would last.” To keep up with demand, Garrahan says they have expanded their brewing facility, now offering ten or more different crafted brews. “We’re going into our second summer season and people love it!”
Southern Delaware is keeping pace with the nation’s burgeoning craft brew industry. According to the National Brewers Association, there were 5,234 breweries throughout the country in 2016. Locally, Lewes’ Crooked Hammock has quickly taken its place among the region’s popular breweries – Dogfish Head, 16-Mile, Mispillion River Brewing, 3rd Wave Brewing, Dewey Beer Co, Big Oyster Brewing, and Revelation Brewing.
Garrahan, who is a managing member of Crooked Hammock, says “there are a number of great breweries now in our immediate area. It’s great to see what they are able to offer from season to season,” adding that it keeps the local beer industry interesting all year long.
With the onset of the busiest time of year, no one is more aware of what it takes to keep up with the supply, and the growing demand from his guests, than the brewing team at Crooked Hammock. Brewer Wood notes that his crew has been working round the clock to be ready for the summer season at the restaurant and its popular backyard beer garden.
Crooked Hammock Brewery, Restaurant and Backyard Beer Garden is open year round 7 days a week from 11am with late night service until 1am. Happy Hour specials are offered Monday through Friday from 2:30-5:30pm.
The one-of-a-kind facility is a must for first-time beach-bound visitors. It includes a full service restaurant & dining room, screened-in Porch Bar, and a large social gathering beer hall which opens onto the outdoor beer garden. Outdoor hammocks, fire pit, games and a children’s playground make it a family favorite. Located at 36707 Crooked Hammock Way, Lewes, DE. 19958 Phone 302.644.SUDS (7837). Barrel of Monks Brewing’s Halfway to Christmas Party
Their Halfway to Christmas Party is one of their most popular events of the year, celebrating their signature Father Christmas Ale.
The post Barrel of Monks Brewing’s Halfway to Christmas Party appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
For the last few years, Barrel of Monks Brewing has been bringing a little bit of Belgium to Boca Raton, Florida. The Belgian-inspired brewery has carved a nice niche for themselves in the land of surf and sun (and swamps), by offering up mix of modern and classic beer recipes. Barrel of Monks was founded by good friends who came together to create something that has seldom been done in the United States…a brewery making Belgian-style beer. Their focus is on quality – combining traditional techniques with modern technology.
Their Halfway to Christmas Party is one of their most popular events of the year, celebrating their signature Father Christmas Ale. This year, they will be releasing a limited edition port barrel-aged Father Christmas, along with an all-star lineup of Ginger Tripel, Cranberry Whit, Figgy Turno, and more. On hand, they will also be selling vintage bottles of 2015 & 2016 Father Christmas. And, like every decent brewery worth their salt, there will be food trucks, plus craft and apparel vendors.
The fun does not stop there. After all, what is Christmas in July without a Summer Santa Contest? That’s right folks, come dressed up as a surfing Santa, a swimsuit-wearing St. Nick or Kris Kringle as he cruises the beach. The best three Santas will win a variety of Christmas gifts from the brewery, not to mention the most popular people (and photo ops) at the party.
Don’t Be on the Naughty List
The Halfway to Christmas Party will take place at the brewery on July 8th from 1pm-5pm, rain or shine. All-you-can-drink tickets are $35. Individual beers tickets will be sold at the event for $5. If you live in South Florida, swing by or you might get a lump of coal in your summer stocking this year. For more information and to buy tickets, click here.

A Queen is Born: Pelican Brewing Releases Gin Barrel-aged Saison-style Ale, Queen of Hearts
Pelican Brewing Company releases its much-anticipated gin barrel-aged Saison-style ale, Queen of Hearts.
The post A Queen is Born: Pelican Brewing Releases Gin Barrel-aged Saison-style Ale, Queen of Hearts appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
Hear ye, hear ye: The Queen is ready for her subjects. Pelican Brewing Company this week releases its much-anticipated gin barrel-aged Saison-style ale, Queen of Hearts. Her eminence will be available this weekend on draught and in 50 liter kegs, 1/6 barrels and 22 oz. bottles.
The original Saison du Pélican is exceptional on its own but when aged in local gin barrels from master Oregon distillers at Ransom Wine and Spirits, it takes on a whole other dimension of flavor. The fruity and spicy aroma of the farmhouse Belgian yeast, herbaceous Goldings hops, and the well-rounded malt character of Saison du Pélican pairs exquisitely with the huge botanical infusions imparted by Ransom Distillery’s Old Tom gin barrels. It has been said that Ransom distillers only bottle the ‘heart of the hearts’—the best portion of distillate, which is why Pelican dubbed its Saison ‘The Queen of Hearts:’
ABV: 6.5% | IBU: 30 | PLATO: 13º
What makes Queen so majestic is the flavor from barrels used for aging the historic Old Tom Gin. According to spirits website Tales of the Cocktail, “when it comes to crafting a classic spirit that essentially vanished from America’s cocktail scene, interpretation was the key to innovation when distilleries took up Old Tom gin’s flag. If Genever is the heady forefather of modern gin and London Dry is the modern standard bearer, Old Tom is the neglected middle child. Not as malty and heavy-handed as Genever. Not as spicy and arid as London Dry. Often sweeter and rounder than your more modern gins, Old Tom gin offers a great introduction to a somewhat divisive spirit—it’s a sweeter, less-botanical version of most gins found on the market today.”
(More: Pelican Brewing Honored with Seven Medals at the North American Beer Awards)
“Queen is the perfect summertime addition to the Pelican cast—it’s much lighter than other barrel-aged beers with lower alcohol content, lighter color and an herbal, fruity, botanical flavor profile for a bright, light refreshing summer sipper,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster at Pelican Brewing Company. “I’m a huge fan of Ransom’s Old Tom Gin, which is a fantastic revival of a nearly forgotten style of gin. It’s herbal, floral character and background oak character both complement and enhance the fruity, spicy flavors of Saison du Pélican.”
Pelican celebrates this unique blend with a release party at all its breweries this weekend. Restless Pelican fanatics can pre-order Queen now for pick up at any Pelican brewery location (Tillamook, Pacific City and Cannon Beach) starting this Saturday, June 17.
“Queen of Hearts is a completely innovative beer—the uniqueness and historic style of the gin really fits with Pelican’s style of reimagining beer that had been long forgotten,” says Jim Prinzing, CEO, Pelican Brewing Company. “Darron’s history degree informs much of his award-winning brewing and Queen is a great example of celebrating a notable spirit style that pairs beautifully with our own Saison.”
With consistent growth and demand for its products, Pelican recently increased brewing and bottling capacity at its Tillamook facility to over 38,000 barrels and opened a new brewpub in Cannon Beach which offers additional capacity for such experimentation.
Like all Pelican beers, Queen of Hearts is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

2 Craft Breweries Announce New Solar Power Programs
Two more craft breweries are now using the sun for power. Jester King in Texas and Rock Art in Vermont both announced solar power programs this week.
The post 2 Craft Breweries Announce New Solar Power Programs appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
In less than a three-day span this week, two craft breweries have announced new solar power programs.
One of the breweries is Jester King in Austin, Texas.
“On a sunny day, the brewery can run 100 percent off of solar power, as well as send excess power back to the grid,” Jester King founder Jeff Stuffings writes in a blog post.
Stuffings explains the Austin brewery activated a 78-kilowatt solar power system in May. Three arrays of panels covering the brewery’s 11,000-square-foot roof capture solar energy throughout the day.
(VISIT: Find a U.S. Brewery)
“The panels not only create energy, they also absorb thermal heat. This means that there’s less thermal transfer into our barrel room, which makes it less energy intensive to cool to fermentation temperature,” he explains.
A cool aerial video shows off the new solar panels.
Stuffings says this is “the first step” in building a more sustainable brewery.
“We still need to develop the ability to catch our own rainwater, treat our wastewater for irrigation, and power our boiler off of biofuels and/or brewery waste,” he explains.
A U.S. Department of Agriculture grant helped pave the way for the upgrades.

Rock Art Brewery Runs on the Sun
About 48 hours before the Jester King announcement, Rock Art Brewery flipped the switch to running 100 percent on solar power. The Morrisville, Vermont, brewery says it’s using solar power to produce all of its electrical needs.
“We will actually produce more than we need during our busy season, summer,” explains Matt Nadeau, Rock Art Brewery founder. “We will be able to donate that excess to local non-profits.”
The Vermont brewery, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2017, is marking the milestone with a new IPA. Nadeau tells us they’ll begin brewing a “solar beer” — Sun Rocked IPA — next week.
Rock Art and Jester King join the ranks of breweries who already rely on solar power, including Sierra Nevada Brewing and Abita.

Ninkasi Brewing Proves Beer IS Love with $37K Nonprofit Donation
Through the brewery charity, Ninkasi Brewing pledged a donation of $1 per case and $7 per keg sold of its Believer Double Red.
The post Ninkasi Brewing Proves Beer IS Love with $37K Nonprofit Donation appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
EUGENE, Ore.—June 14, 2017—Launched January 2017, independent brewer, Ninkasi Brewing Company, kicked off a four-month campaign to donate a portion of its seasonal beer sales to three national nonprofit organizations. Through the brewery charity, Beer is Love donation program, the brewery pledged a donation of $1 per case and $7 per keg sold of its Believer Double Red to Team River Runner, Women Who Code and Conscious Alliance. Ending April 30, 2017, the brewery raised $37,776 to support the work of these three nonprofits.
“We established Beer is Love to give back to nonprofits in all the states where our beer is sold,” explains Emilie Hartvig, national donations manager for Ninkasi and its Beer is Love program. “We believe beer unites and builds community; our Believer campaign offered fans an easy way to help support that cause by enjoying some delicious beer at the same time.”
(VISIT: Find a US Brewery)
Created in 2012, Ninkasi’s Beer is Love program supports nonprofits doing work in five core categories: women, equality, recreation, the environment, and arts and music. “We brought back Believer as our first seasonal of the year, donating a portion of its sales was a natural fit to celebrate its re-release,” says Hartvig. “Our team hand-selected three national nonprofits to benefit from the campaign, all representing pillars of our Beer is Love program.”
The three benefitting nonprofits include Team River Runner, a volunteer-driven organization offering wounded and disabled veterans the opportunity to regain independence with an adventurous, adaptive paddle sports program; Women Who Code, international nonprofit dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers; and Conscious Alliance, an organization supporting communities in crisis through emergency food relief; empowerment programs for impoverish youth; and nutrition, exercise and gardening education for youth in economically isolated Native American reservations.
To encourage continued participation throughout the campaign, Ninkasi fans and nonprofit supporters were asked not only to enjoy a pint of Believer Double Red but also to cast an online vote for their selected nonprofit. Votes were tallied and used to determine how the final donation pool would be allocated among the three organizations: first place receiving 50 percent, second receiving 30 percent, and third receiving 20 percent.
In total, more than 6,000 votes were cast putting Team River Runner in first place receiving a 50 percent of the donation pool, Women Who Code in second place with 30 percent and Conscious Alliance with 20 percent.
“We are so appreciative of Ninkasi for having Team River Runner be a part of this thoughtful campaign,” explains Joe Mornini, Team River Runner executive director. “Ninkasi’s desire to support organizations that give back to our community is inspiring; we are honored to call Ninkasi part of our national family dedicated to healing and empowerment of veterans and their families.”
“A donation of over $18K is no small gesture; this donation will enable us to open our programming to even more veterans, including those who are blind or visually impaired,” says Mornini. Team River Runner plans to use the Believer donation to kick-start its Vision Team: a new program offering opportunities and clinics for blind or visually disabled veterans who want to improve their kayaking skills.
“The support for these nonprofits over the past four months was nothing short of outstanding and moving,” states Hartvig. “Not only are we excited to see how these organizations use the funds but also to see increased awareness for the work they are doing.”

As they say “good things take time.” Since our opening, we’ve collected many awards and recognitions for the quality of our beer, ambiance, and customer service as can be seen here. We became fascinated with the art and science of fermentation and the social aspect of sharing what we made with our community. Jester King Brewery Now Solar Powered!
We’re very excited to announce that Jester King Brewery is now solar powered brewery, the 78 kilowatt system is one of the larger systems in central Texas!
The post Jester King Brewery Now Solar Powered! appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
We’re very excited to announce that Jester King Brewery is now a solar powered brewery. Last month, we activated our new, 78 kilowatt solar power system, which is one of the larger systems in central Texas! We have three arrays of panels that cover most of our ~11,000 square foot roof. The arrays are oriented in different directions to catch solar energy throughout the whole day. This means that on a sunny day, the brewery can run 100% off of solar power, as well as send excess power back to the grid. Finally, the panels not only create energy, they also absorb thermal heat. This means that there’s less thermal transfer into our barrel room, which makes it less energy intensive to cool to fermentation temperature.
(More: Allison Huffman Joins Jester King Brewing Team)
Solar energy at Jester King is the most recent step in making the brewery more sustainable. But we still have a long way to go! For instance, we still need to develop the ability to catch our own rainwater, treat our wastewater for irrigation, and power our boiler off of biofuels and/or brewery waste. In the years ahead, we will continue to make improvements that will ultimately make us a truly sustainable brewery.
We’d like to thank the U.S. Department of Agriculture for its grant assistance in helping us fund the project, as well as Circular Energy for their help and guidance installing the system.

Your Walkable Guide to Breweries in Olde Town Arvada, Colorado
If beer travel takes you to Colorado, don’t miss Arvada. Our walkable guide has details on Olde Town Arvada breweries and craft beer destinations.
The post Your Walkable Guide to Breweries in Olde Town Arvada, Colorado appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
As the sign says, Welcome to Colorful Colorado! Whether you’re on a beercation or are one of the more than 100,000 new residents to the Centennial State, let me tell you one thing right off the bat: We take our beer very seriously. More than 300 small and independent craft brewers call Colorado home, and a savvy beer lover knows that there are craft beer experiences outside of the perennial beer powerhouses of Denver, Boulder, Ft. Collins, The Springs and so on. With Colorado hoppin’ both economically and beerwise, you should seek out Olde Town Arvada breweries. The town is one of the state’s easily overlooked craft beer gems.
Arvada’s Roots in the Gold Rush
Full disclosure, I happen to call Arvada my town. (I like to freak out my co-workers by telling them about life outside the Boulder bubble.)
Pronunciation: are-vad-uh. Don’t be throwing a lazy “a” in there. “Vad” like dad or rad, like Colorado.
Located seven miles from Denver and a half-hour from Boulder, Arvada is central to some of the state’s most vaunted craft beer strongholds. You’ll also find plenty of Old West history to boot.
(LEARN: CraftBeer.com’s Big List of Beer Schools)
What is now the city of Arvada is near the site of the first documented gold discovery in the Rocky Mountain region. In June 1850, a gold prospector by the name of Lewis Ralston found a quarter ounce gold nugget in what would later be known as Ralston Creek. The next day, he and his pals packed up and headed to California.
Eight years later Ralston and his group returned and many decided to stay near the creek Ralston originally found gold, sparking the widely-held ritual of the Californian pilgrimage to Colorado which we all know is still followed to this day.
Today I’d argue the gold comes in the form of our breweries, all within view of the water tower. Here’s your walkable guide to Olde Town Arvada breweries and craft beer destinations.
A Guide to Olde Town Arvada Breweries
Dusk falls in Olde Town Arvada, a growing hub for craft beer. (Credit Andy Sparhawk)
Ralston Creek’s connection to Clear Creek and the town west of Arvada, Golden, made it very much a Coors town when I moved to Arvada. At the time, Arvada had one brewery, Yak & Yeti, formerly the Cheshire Cat. It’s located across on Ralston Rd., just a smidge outside of the Olde Town district.
The Yak is a picturesque (and many believe haunted) house turned Indian, Tibetan and Nepalese restaurant. The brew system, leftover from the Cheshire Cat, is crammed into the basement forcing brewers over the years to navigate steep stairs. Brewing is a challenge. An expansion is impossible.
(LEARN: CraftBeer.com’s Big Beer Glossary)
Recently, Yak & Yeti announced that it had spun off brewing operations into Spice Trade Brewing. The hope is that beer lovers will have access to their award-winning beer, now under the direction of Jeff Tyler, around town. (I’ll still look for the authentic experience: trudging to Yak & Yeti during a snow storm for the buffet and a few pints of their Chai Milk Stout.)
“Arvada definitely has a much more vibrant beer and food scene than most people realize,” says Tyler. “We’re excited to be part of such a great beer scene in Arvada along with Odyssey Beerwerks, New Image, Someplace Else and now Denver Beer Co. More than just beer, Olde Town Arvada has morphed into an awesome food and drink hub that gives Denver a run for its money.”
If amazing Indian food isn’t your thing, you can hop across the street to 4 Barrel BBQ for some Meleguta Wings, a giant tray of pork rinds, or the Arvada Hash, which is a pile of grilled smashed tater tots smothered in green chili and pulled pork. Grab an Upslope Craft Lager to wash it down — especially the wings; you should probably ask to test the heat level of the Meleguta sauce before you commit.
The Route from New Image Brewing to Kline’s Beer Hall
If you follow Yukon Street south, New Image Brewing sits a block and a half away. There you will find some of the most exciting beers in Colorado right now. The brewery has been making waves with kombucha blended saison, complex high gravity sippers and an increasing array of hazy pales, notably East Coast Transplant, a reminder of the state’s current influx.

In a short time, New Image has worked to put the brewery and the town on the beer map. Head Brewer Brandon Capps recognizes the Olde Town area has evolved: “When I first starting coming to Olde Town it didn’t have a ton going on,” writes Capps. “I’ve always likened Arvada to a small town in metro Atlanta called Decatur. It has a really cool historic downtown area that hosts some of the best food and drink in the state including several breweries.”
(VISIT: 2017’s Great American Beer Bars)
Despite the increase in breweries and bars, Capps likes that the town has remained true to its historical district demeanor.
“The demographic is not so much the party scene like you get downtown, but the slightly more eclectic foodie and drink enthusiasts,” he says. “We’re already seeing the transformation and that demographic is perfect for us as a craft brewery that also specializes in innovative cocktails and food.”

New Image’s aforementioned cocktail program and menu fits nicely with a Flora or Dyad at their communal tables. Once settled up, you can depart through their beer garden in the back into the alley and continue on your conquest of Olde Town Arvada.
Reaching Olde Wadsworth, you’d likely be drawn to the flickering torch lights or live music from the upstairs of Arvada Tavern, which is another great place for food, craft beer and to marvel at the highly-trained bartenders. Their sister pub, Kline’s Beer Hall, in the old D-Note, is a more beer focused experience with an impressive long draw system serving up local and regional craft beers to go with house-cured sausages. You’ll find Kline’s off of Grandview, but keep your eye on the prize because you could get distracted by Homegrown Tap & Dough‘s equally impressive draft selection or Scrumptious candy shop for ice cream.
Denver Beer Co. Olde Town
If you weren’t certain of Arvada’s rising beer stock, the grand opening of Denver Beer Co. in the former Chevrolet dealership on Olde Wadsworth is a defining boon to the beerscape. Co-owners Charlie Berger and Patrick Crawford came upon the building when they were walking through Olde Town after scouting equipment from the defunct Arvada Beer Co. They didn’t end up purchasing ABC’s equipment, but the two came upon the old building and saw the potential.
“It felt kinda perfect,” explained Berger. “It felt homie.”
Crawford and Berger promise Denver Beer Co. fans can expect DBC’s core favorites like Raspberry Princess Yum Yum and Graham Cracker Porter, but recognize that Arvada will be different from their Denver location. They anticipate adventurous palates in Olde Town and are excited to showcase a new strawberry kettle sour at their grand opening in mid-June.
“It’s an exciting step for us,” said Berger, “We’re still a small business, but we’re hiring and contributing to the community.”
Denver Beer Co. Olde Town is fitted with a seven-barrel brewhouse to craft tasty ales and lagers by DBC newcomer, Paul Papantonio, and under the leadership of Denver Beer Co.’s Head Brewer Jason Buehler, who continues to oversee brewing operations.

More Beer In and Around Olde Town Arvada
If this seems like a lot of walking, I’ll point out that from The Yak to Kline’s you would have only travel by foot no more than .4 miles! Olde Town Arvada is dripping with fantastic beer and food destinations, and we haven’t even mentioned the amazing breakfast options like the best donut shop that no one knows about — OMG’s Donuts — or the Bluegrass which serves coffee and breakfast burritos in the morning and then turns into a craft beer/bourbon/pizza joint with live bluegrass. It’s just a few more steps from Kline’s.
I’d suggest experiencing Olde Town Arvada before everyone finds out about it, but you might be too late. (No, not because of the G-Line Light Rail stop — that’s still delayed.) Denver Beer Co.’s Arvada new location means there’s no stopping the Olde Town craft beer hype.
(LEARN: 75+ Popular Craft Beer Styles)
If it gets too crazy you can ride your bike to Odyssey Beerwerks and then down to SomePlace Else Brewing. Grab a ride share to Wheat Ridge for Colorado Plus or Brewery Rickoli’s. You can jump on I-70 East to head to Bruz Beers and then back to all that Denver has to offer. Or you can go west on I-70 to Golden for the likes of Cannonball Creek, Barrels and Bottles and even more Golden breweries (six) all within 10 miles of Olde Town Arvada.
Even with the sheer number of opportunities of places to find a craft beer in and around Olde Town, the area has retained its charm. As the great white blob of the Highlands envelops Wheat Ridge and sets its sights on Arvada, the hope is that the district will keep some semblance of that feel. Colorado is known for its craft beer and lots of it, but just like selecting your next pint, being discerning about where you go yields a memorable beer experience.
The next time you’re prospecting for new breweries to check out, set a course for the Olde Town Arvada water tower, the waypoint of one of the Centennial State’s hidden craft beer nuggets.

Central Texas Brewery Breaks Ground on Destination Brewery

Driftwood, TX – Vista Brewing broke ground on a 21 acre destination brewery just southwest of Austin and at the gateway to the Central Texas Wine Trail. The initial phase of the destination, set to open in early 2018, nestles a tasting room and brewery production building into the 657 large oaks and elms on the property. Additional amenities arriving in future phases include an expanded farm-to-table restaurant, event center and eco-friendly tiny home lodging. An 18 hive apiary is already installed, and a farm and orchard are in planning.
Vista Brewing is working with prominent brewery architect OPA Design Studio, civil engineering firm LandDev Consulting, and award-winning commercial contractor rand* Construction to design and build the “modern ranch” style buildings. The buildings were meticulously designed to fit into the canopies of the centuries-old oak trees. The light-filled tasting room will feature floor to ceiling windows designed by local artisans KKDW to maximize views and open air connection with the outdoors. Along with world class brews and views, the tasting room will include a retail area and private event space.
Acres of shaded beer garden will be encircled by a 19th century stacked stone wall built by the first farmers who worked the land after it was granted to heroic Texan William B. Travis in 1835. The project will preserve the historic wall and impact only 15 of the site’s beautiful trees.
Guests will enjoy two genres of beer: low alcohol, dry, drinkable “beer garden beer,” and more complex, wine-like beers which will age in barrels from wineries and distilleries in the Texas Wine Trail ecosystem. Both the onsite food concept and the brewery will utilize fruits, vegetables and herbs grown at the Vista farm or foraged on the property, as well as honey from the apiary.

There are a lot of myths about beers and beer styles:
All dark beers are not heavy.
An English-style Bitter (ESB) isn’t necessarily going to be bitter.
Stouts aren’t just for cold seasons. (Seriously, drink them whenever you want.)
We asked brewers and tap room workers to tell us which beer styles they think drinkers misunderstand the most. Watch the video above to see what they told us.
If any of their answers prod you to dig deeper, our Beer Styles guide has great facts on more than 75 of the most popular craft beer styles. Beer learning is the best kind of learning.

BrewTube Comedy Founder: A Common Thread Binds Brewing and Comedy
BrewTube Comedy has allowed me to talk to brewers about everything from their origin stories to their creative process.
The post BrewTube Comedy Founder: A Common Thread Binds Brewing and Comedy appeared first on CraftBeer.com.
As a stand-up comedian, I get to travel all over the country in the vein of attempting to make people laugh. I’ve been doing stand-up for going on a decade, but a few years ago, I really got into craft beer. Little did I realize I was planting the seeds that would lead to BrewTube Comedy.
At first, I knew nothing about craft beer, but I was intrigued by the culture. In the last year in particular, I’ve made a concerted effort to learn.
After trying hundreds of different beers in countless cities, reading beer blogs, attending festivals and following popular social media accounts, I’m proud to say that I still mostly know nothing. What I have learned though is that craft beer, like comedy, is a form of art created by individuals who aim to showcase their spirit, individuality and creativity and pass it along to the masses.
(VISIT: Find a U.S. Brewery)
Art is the Common Thread that Binds Comedy and Brewing
When I first had the idea to combine craft beer and stand-up comedy into a web series, I wanted to create something different and fun. I also (selfishly) wanted a way to learn more about the culture of the world that is craft beer.
BrewTube Comedy has allowed me to talk to brewers about everything from their origin stories to their creative process. It’s been a wonderful and rewarding experience. (Did I mention all of the amazing beer I get to try?!)
I believe I’ve stumbled on to something much deeper than what I had first anticipated. The hidden similarities between craft beer and comedy may be the reason that both communities are booming right now.
(LEARN: CraftBeer.com’s Big List of Beer Schools)
What craft beer and comedy have in common is that artists drive them both. Like stand-up, the spirit of craft beer is, at its base, entrepreneurial. Seeing small brewers’ and comedians’ recent popularity, you would think that taking up either line of work would lead to instant fame, fortune and endless bags of gold.
This is hardly the case. I would say we do it for the love of the game. (Hell, in 2015, I had a No. 1 comedy album, yet after a show in Kentucky last night, I had to sleep on a friend’s couch.)
To get good at any art form, you have to live and breathe it in for years before you are able to graduate from novice to master. There’s a huge learning curve and it certainly doesn’t happen overnight. I think the old adage goes, “An IPA wasn’t brewed in a day.” Art takes time.
That first brew in your garage is akin to an open mic where new comics have no idea what they are doing on stage. A comic’s first couple of times on stage is a thing of nightmares. I’m talking more cringe-worthy than the 2013 reboot of Evil Dead.
(MORE: The Craft Dome is the National Park You’ve Been Waiting for)
It’s often said that for a comic, it takes a minimum of 10 years of relentless work to get any good (almost there, Dwight!).
When filming an episode of BrewTube at Against The Grain in Louisville, one of the brewers, Amelia, told me that it takes years and years to be considered a brewmaster. I remember thinking, “That makes so much sense!” That title should be an honor bestowed upon those who have forged themselves in the gauntlet that is art creation.
The demand for art is at an all-time high. People crave something with genuine personality. As beer and comedy become more competitive, the need for artists to continue to push boundaries becomes more and more paramount. Our finished products act as vehicles to a great time for those who consume it.
(READ: Summer Beers for People Who Like the Classics)
Whether it be the cold pint the bartender slides across the bar after a long day or the joke about how terrible it is spending Thanksgiving with the in-laws, the passion we put into what we do helps enhance people’s lives.
So to all you brewers out there, never stop creating! I hope that one day we can sit down and share a beer and a laugh.

SUPERIOR, Wis. | Earth Rider Brewery and Bev-Craft have named Allyson Rolph and Tim Wilson as Earth Rider’s Lead Brewers. Both brewers were selected for their extensive experience and balanced skill sets. Earth Rider Brewery will officially open in October.
Rolph has been the Head Brewer at Thirsty Pagan Brewing since 2012. She has completed pro-brewer courses with the Siebel Institute of Technology, UW-Stevens Point, and Hop Union. During her time at Thirsty Pagan, Rolph earned a reputation as a creative brewer, including the launch of what is now a renowned sour-beer and barrel-aging program.
Wilson got his start in brewing at Fitger’s Brewhouse in 2012. He has been at Bent Paddle Brewing since 2014 as their Lead Cellerman. He is a process specialist particularly adept at training and establishing procedures.
Bev-Craft Director of Brewing Frank Kaszuba will oversee Earth Rider’s brewing production. Kaszuba has 21 years of brewing experience and is a Great American Beer Festival medalist.
Bev-Craft is a brewery consulting group that supports a network of breweries with business, brewing, branding and sales expertise.
“I think we have assembled a dream-team of brewers,” said Kaszuba. “The balance of Allyson’s and Tim’s hot- and cold-side skillsets will make Earth Rider’s beers consistent and of the highest quality.”
“Having these two as Lead Brewers rounds out our staff and assures me that Earth Rider Beer will be among the best,” said Earth Rider founder Tim Nelson. “I have a lot of respect for what they’ve accomplished and am confident we will brew sought-after beer at the head of the lakes.”
