@tempests-of-hope you wanted to see my scarf projects :D so here's some pics and also one of an afghan lap blanket that I did not mention (because it's a pain in the ass but I'm determined that I will make it blanket sized one day)
I'm new to loom knitting - as in I finally picked it up while recovering from surgery last month - but I think I'm doing pretty good for a newbie :D
The green scarf is suuuuuper soft and I like that the yarn i used is so fuzzy. SOOOOOO fuzzy. This is actually the second completed scarf, but the the first one I did is a little short for me so I'm considering gifting it to my nephew (it is also green but a different sort of fuzzy yarn so it's very warm) - the down side to the yarn for the pictured scarf was it was so fuzzy that it made it easy to get the casting off order wrong midway through so there's a fuck up in there that you can't see. Of course the upside to the downside is the yarn is so damn fuzzy you can't tell I screwed up just by looking at it. The fuzziness obscures all
my current scarf project is the super soft blue scarf I'm making for my mom. I think that yarn was actually marketed for like... baby blankets? but it makes for a soft scarf with a delicate feel to it that easily recovers from snagging back into it's knit pattern, so I'm pleased with the overall look and I think my mom will enjoy it as a mother's day gift in May
I am also using an afghan loom for the first time and determinedly making a lap blanket. A lot of yarn has gone into the amount of blanket I've made so far and the yarn is probably better suited for other projects but it wasn't expensive for the amount I needed and came in colors I liked so it became my yarn of choice. It's not soft the way the others are but it has a nice feel to it so I think it'll be a nice blanket for tossing over my legs while reading on the couch. I'm still getting used to the process of looping all the loops to the point where I can start pulling the bottom loop over the top loop without the top loop row unraveling halfway before I hit that point. And I'm concerned I might be screwing up the yarn tension a bit causing it to be to curly as it comes out? But at the same time I'm still pleased with my progress and I'm not too concerned if my first attempt at loom knitting a blanket isn't perfect since it's just for me.
And as an extra bonus, pictured with the green scarf is a project of mine from last year, a no sew fleece blanket. I love the paw print side of the blanket the most but both sides are kinda loud and fun and I liked that when I picked them out. It was my test blanket before I made one with dinosaur prints for my nephew and i enjoyed making them so much that I ended up making blankets for everyone for Christmas. My sister got a Nightmare Before Christmas themed one, my brother in law got Star Wars, Dad got a 'this is my Christmas movie watching blanket' from a kit I found that was just... too on point for Mr. Watches Hallmark Christmas Movie in July, and one for my mom with dog patterns on either side (one side says 'I woof you' and she loves it). Dad's was the only one from a kit, but he likes it so much that I don't think he minds it's not as custom as the others. I did still put a lot of thought (and teasing) into it, after all.
