Blades of Glory (2007):

Here’s a quick movie review for all of you. Blades of Glory is a movie that I like quite a lot. It’s a very silly, and generic comedy/sports type of movie, with some awesome jokes, awesome characters, and some cool scenes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a typical comedy between two people who hated each other, then they start to like each other, but then they hate each other and end up good friends...like most Hollywood comedies. Either way, it’s still a really fun movie and perfect for this time of the year. Expect a good amount of sex humor, tho ;)

So, Busy Philipps thought up the idea for Blades of Glory, worked the script with her then boyfriend Craig Cox and his brother Jeff (including the gf part for her). Aaaand then the guys sold the script without her and made it like she was trying to steal from them, you know, like a crazy ex-gfs do. Somehow she got credit for the story but. Wow. 

I checked these guys imdb info so I could avoid their work but lo and behold, there’s not much, if any, there. Weird, huh?

Minneapolis Co-op Wars

Craig Cox, co-editor of the previously aforementioned Minneapolis Observer, wrote a history of the co-op wars between the hippies and the Marxists in Minneapolis in the 1970s.  The hippies wanted natural organic foods and the the Marxists wanted basic food stuffs for the proletariat.  There were conflicts over warehouse distribution and the Marxists in some cases used force to intimidate co-ops.

Cox was the editor of Scoop, the co-op newsletter at the time and writes the history with the immediacy of someone who lived through it.  We have Scoop here in Special Collections and in our periodicals department on 3rd floor of Minneapolis Central. We also have Storefront Revolution here in Special Collections and there is a copy that can be checked out from the 2nd floor of Minneapolis Central, Call Number: HD3446.T85C69 1994.

Ampers.org, a publicly funded radio podcast website, did an piece on the wars as well.
