Lilly is the type of person to say the very specific phrase, "Please, say that again," as a polite indication that someone has messed up and needs to correct themselves.

Lilly has an eating disorder that she's still actively recovering from. It stems from her need to be physically fit for the field. It's also to feel like she has more control over her life. She's very restrictive in what she will even attempt to eat. (Episode 7 is what leads me to this headcanon. Wes is telling Lilly she needs to eat. She sheepishly states that she hasn't had either breakfast or lunch.)

Peanut taught Target how to cook (not very well).

Crash likes to think that spirits can speak through the radio. He doesn't believe it. He won't ever tell anybody he copes this way, but the thought of his dead comrades having a way to communicate with him makes him feel safer.

Wes has OCD, and that's partly why he's so prone to outbursts when things aren't done in a very specific way. He has repetitive behaviors that he tries to hide from others because they're embarrassing. One specific compulsion is that he has to list everything in alphabetical order. He doesn't have a concrete reason for why his compulsion is like this, other than the feeling of dread and panic that consumes him if the ritual is denied or disrupted.

Peanut is so AuDHD coded to me.

Duke loves flaming cocktails and shots.

Izzy is a cosplayer. She just can't do it much because she's in the military.

Izzy is bisexual.

Lilly is a lesbian. She is incredibly lesbian-coded to me, and I'm not sure why.

(Yes, I could low-key see Izzy and Lilly falling in love, or one of them having a one-sided crush on the other.)

I can't decide if Target is very queer or just a very sweet cishet ally.

Target loves humming. His mom used to hum to soothe him, especially after a nightmare. Now he hums to help himself de-stress and stay occupied.

Pops was married when he was younger. His wife was pregnant and got caught up being a civilian in wartime. She died, and it broke him. That's partially why his paternal instincts are so strong. He has a need to make up for what he lost―what he failed to protect, even if it really wasn't his fault.

Duke has tried to go to rehab for his alcoholism before, and if anything, it just made it worse. He wasn't ready to get better and heal; he just felt like he had to try.

Crash once overdosed on sleeping pills because his nightmares became so bad that he just needed them to stop.

Wes has a stash of snacks he'll use to bribe patients into calming down. He'll also give them to Lilly and remind her to eat. He keeps having to move the hiding place around because Peanut keeps finding it.

Peanut has an incredibly strong sense of smell and a terrible sense of direction. Yet, he always manages to find his way back to the team or uncovers something new while trying to figure out where he is going.

mmm I’m not sure Crunch is much of a drinker in the first place. I feel like he’s somewhat of a health nut so he’d cut himself off before he got too tipsy. Crash can handle his alcohol pretty well and goes a lil bonkers taking shots xP

on the subject of nina’s robot hands

the other day i was thinkin about Nina cortex’s hands and how cortex canonically admitted to replacing them ‘cause nina was too friendly with animals and he wanted her to grow to be more evil... and damn, that’s pretty dark?

nina doesn’t seem to hold the whole hand switcheroo thing against him, so i’m pretty sure he presented it as some kind of cool superpower!! and conveniently failed to mention that they aren’t perfect and she’ll have trouble controlling her strength. but yea even tho she went through with it willingly, it’s still pretty messed up that cortex would’ve tricked her into doing it, since she was just a kid and all.

aanyhow, i just wanted to think of a scenario in which that was addressed. in the following headcanon, coco & nina are best friends and on the cusp of datin just fyi. so yea here are my thoughts on the subject:

coco learning about the circumstances in which nina got her hands & gettin super pissed. she'd always figured nina had been in an accident... like hazardous chemicals spilled on her hands when she was playing in cortex's lab as a kid. nina defends her uncle since she believes he only has her best interests at heart and she DID agree to it, looked forward to it even! but it makes her think...

this leads to her asking cortex about what gave him the idea for her robot hands ?

he's like i just wanted to make you stronger! i wanted to make sure you could defend yourself

ok but if that's true, why dont you make yourself a cyborg too? you were always getting your butt handed to you by crash bandicoot...

& eventually the truth comes out

and nina gets angry, bc while having robot hands has helped in the past, it's been hard for her in other ways and.. he lied to her. just because he wanted her to be what HE thought she should be

cortex can see how hurt she is and attempts to apologize but nina needs time alone

she runs off and sits and thinks and idk.. maybe aku aku finds her and they talk and he seems to understand the betrayal she feels because he and his brother used to be close once when they were alive. uka uka has made choices in his own self interest for power & that drove them apart... but deep down, he still cares for his brother and he believes uka uka still remembers how they used to be, too

he tells nina she's free to choose what she does of course. she's in control of her own destiny and if she never wants to speak with cortex again, so be it. meanwhile, cortex is really broken up about what he's done and coming to terms with how selfish he'd been... looking at baby pictures of nina when she still had hands, real hands

and idk... i like to think nina eventually forgives him and he promises never to do sneaky shit like that to her ever again, and he keeps his word.

Whats your headcanon for Crash and Cortex if they ever got together?

man idk… my thoughts about these two are kinda scattered? like fer sure it’d take time and development but hmmm

(gonna put a read more since this gets lengthy!)

maybe there’d be more times they’d have to work together to fight a bigger common villain? and sure, at first Cortex is quick to switch back to the villainous side after it’s over (like he did in twinsanity). But slowly, they’d get more familiar with each other– well, moreso than they already are, with their history and all. there’s things that you can’t erase like saving each other’s lives for one. man, I bet if anyone from the crash gang saved nina’s life, cortex would be SO grateful, he’d actually thank them and decide to go easy on them or somethin next time they meet. he’d def never forget it!

but yeah, between all the evil cortex schemes and rushing to stop him, there’d be the little things - cortex leaving wumpa fruit for crash in w/e cell he’s trapped him in while he carries out his plans (he’s never given a thought to it before), the crash team sending nina a birthday gift (she and coco having become penpals somewhere along the way), cortex losing interest in evolvo-ray type animal experiments in favor of getting more into developing tech/robot armies etc ? im thinkin like a enemies -> frenemies trope

and then there comes a point where cortex realizes he actually doesnt want crash dead? there was a time when he longed for nothing more than to get the bandicoot (and his brethren) out of his way for GOOD, but when the opportunity arises he’s just sort of.. eh, I’ve got /more important/ things to do >>

it’s an uncomfortable truth for someone who considers himself an evil genius, so he tries to avoid it for as long as possible, still going about his dastardly schemes like nothing’s changed. except it has and maybe he’s just starting to notice it. how crash’s impulsive nature provides a challenge for him that he rather enjoys. how the bandicoot can be amusing in his own right– often when he’s doing something ridiculous like running around wearing Aku Aku - invincible! - but then slipping into a ditch like a fool… and maybe he ISN’T as brainless as cortex once thought him to be? he’s resourceful enough to foil cortex’s schemes after all (even if coco & crunch do help), and he’s managed to befriend a polar bear and a dinosaur, something cortex could never accomplish on his own…

so, from a more in context standpoint, I suppose it’s cortex who would do the most developing in the end? except this is where I get stuck ‘cause… it’s obv that crash and co don’t want the world to be taken over by villains. there would indefinitely come a time when cortex has to choose whether he stands by his fellow evil comrades or crash and his fam? which would be a superr hard choice to make obv

if it came down to the other villains threatening to do away with crash and his fam and cortex wasn’t cool w/ that, then he would p much have to betray them.

LMAO im sorry, you probably just wanted cute headcanons about how cortex and crash would live together and stuff… but gosh there’s a lot to consider about hero/villain pairings, I could talk about this for a while haha..

I’ll try to wrap up tho!

so basically, cortex miight have to give up being a complete villain for this pairing to work? I mean, as much as I like the idea of there being an unresolved kinda tension between them, if they ever got *together* for real, cortex would have to stop trying to rule/bring darkness to the world/whatever his goal is. He could still be an egotistical smug brainiac like he’s always been but this time it’s more– Pinky & the Brain-esque? like, he’ll still have this idea of wanting to be largely influential and change the world, but he doesnt want to destroy it or anything. and maybe he doesn’t have the charisma to rule it like he’d wanted to, but he can still show everyone what he’s worth. he’s a great scientist/inventor and he’ll only become better!

he’s finished taking credit for his colleague’s work, from now on, absolutely everything he creates will be his own design. he’ll improve upon everything society’s greatest minds have come up with and soon his technology will be everywhere and he WILL rule the world in a sense. He’ll be RICH and everyone will know his name!!

he’s not there yet but it’s a dream.

oh and when the other villains + Uka Uka try to take over HIS world, he’ll always lend a hand to crash and co to help stop them. Nina’s still in evil private school and has her own choices to make about her future, which cortex leaves to her. he’ll be proud of her no matter what she does… though she obv has affections for coco so they all have a feeling how things might turn out.

SO.. this is when crash starts hanging out with cortex more? since they’re on the same side and all. N Gin is still in limbo - he’s loyal to cortex, but he also has a reputation he’s been building with the other villains so he’s iffy about abandoning his old ways altogether. cortex p much just has the bandicoot fam to talk to, since he never made other friends outside the league of evil (or w/e they call themselves lmao).

and holy cow, I said I was gonna wrap up so I’m gonna hush before this gets even LONGER than it already is xD basically, you know the drill– crash n cortex friendship turns to something more and soon crash has a room at cortex’s lair where he stays when he’s not on wumpa island (it’s full of virtual palm trees and some real plants too so it’s like home), crash helps cortex test run new inventions/gadgets and oftentimes makes messes, shenanigans, bonding w/ nina etc etc!

and THAT’S one AU in which crash and cortex could get together for reals and make some sorta sense.

HMM my first thought is that this is one of those pairs that might not say it outright? what with cortex bein super tsundere & crash bein.. well crash! if anything, crash would show it a lot & eventually they’d have a moment where cortex get frustrated with somethin & would be like ‘geez crash, you’re lucky i love you, you moron!!!’ w/o thinkin and get superrr embarrassed about it afterwards.. crash would smother him with cuddles lol

cortex mostly, but crash isnt above makin fun too - they did start out as enemies!

cortex? he’s got income from selling his inventions and investing wisely i assume. crash’s only job is savin the world

surprisingly, cortex! hey, even evil villains need some time off & he always tried to make the holiday special for nina, since his own holidays when he was young weren’t all that great. (his clown family just didnt understand him so hardly ever got gifts relevant to his interests + he was he black sheep of the fam)

   who’s more clumsy?

crash. he’s caused more accidents in the lab than cortex can count! (hey one of these incidents was probably what prompted the aforementioned love confession pff)

   who checks their daily horoscope?

cant really see either of them being into this type of thing. dunno if crash would even know his bday (cortex wouldnt either, since i assume he caught the bandicoots in the wild?)

crash lol cortex really shouldn’t let him borrow those MSI cds from evil!coco…

they both do, a little… im imagining them stumbling around a haunted house now, crash would be more bold w/ cortex whimpering at every noise but they’re both p freaked out tbh

cortex,  but crash helps! he double jumps to reach things on high shelves that cortex cant get lol

crash i suppose. coco taught him how to use facebook and he posts selfies & pics of the bigger wumpa fruits he finds. cortex had to berate him about takin photos in the lab tho, that’s top secret stuff, mister!!!
