2021 has been a fantastic year of boxing. We didn’t get everything we wanted but what we got was spectacular. Undisputed champions, big stars fighting one another, breakout stars, incredible performances and amazing fights.

Crawford-Porter 11.20.21

Terence Crawford beat Shawn Porter last night in Las Vegas via 10th round KPS (Kenny Porter Stoppage) in a close and competitive fight. Lets break down attire:

Crawford had a fairly straightforward white and black look. First thing - nice robe:

White trunks and waistband with CRAWFORD along the top, black trim along the bottom and side panels + a little bit of fringe. I think the wide trim panels along the bottom make the trunks a bit cramped (particularly with the ads and his insignia taking up space. But overall, decent trunks. Side view:

Note the OMAHA across the back as well. Crawford wore white Everlast gloves with black palms, and had his logo across the top of the hand:

Great socks along with his matching Everlast shoes:

Shawn Porter wore a black and orange (late Halloween? early Thanksgiving? Cleveland Browns?) look that I generally liked, and it contrasted well w Crawfords white and black set. I thought Porter had a great robe as well:

Black trunks with orange trim, “Grand” across the front in orange script and BLP initials down the left front thigh. There was some interesting silver flare along the side panels:

I can’t really tell what’s going on here. He had a Marvin Hagler homage - “WAR” -  across the back of his trunks:

He had great orange, black and white gloves with the striped thumbs that Grant’s been offering recently:

Footwear was matching, with a nice subtle SHOWTIME across his Asics and matching white socks. 

Good looks and competitive fight. 

Respect box.

Bud stops Shawn Porter in the 10th!

Fantastic fight between Porter and Crawford. Porter pushed Crawford more than basically anyone that Crawford has faced. But good god, Porter loves taking his eyes off his opponent. One of the first times Crawford really committed to the jab from southpaw, Porter tried to slip inside but ended up just ducking down and looking at the ground. When he blitzed forward, he’d be looking at the ground. Crawford spent 10 rounds trying to time that entry but finally managed to land those big body shots in the 7, 8, and 9 to slow Porter down. Then he blasted Porter as he was ducking down twice in the 10th and put him down. Shouts to Kenny Porter for stopping the fight. Competitive ass fight but a career defining win and performance from Bud.

Crawford - Porter: Last 5

This will be a combined last 5 ahead of this weekend’s massive fight between Shawn Porter and Terence Crawford. I’ve covered Terence Crawford extensively recently: Here is my review of his last fight against Kell Brook and here is the Last 5 I did prior to that fight (including a lot of other links as well). 

While I covered Porter’s last fight against Sebastian Formella in Las Vegas and his prior battle against Errol Spence - I realized that I hadn’t covered several others of his previous fights. So working backwards:

In March 2019, he squeaked by Yordenis Ugas in Carson California wearing a similar template to his fight versus Danny Garcia 6 months prior:

Here’s the Garcia fight from Brooklyn in September 2018:

In November 2017 he beat Adrian Granados in Brooklyn:

I actually have no idea what this skyline is. Vegas?

Anyway, he steamrolled Andre Berto in Brooklyn in April 2017:
