A 64 bit variable is so large that it is not generally required to represent many variables. For example, loops very rarely repeat more times than would fit in a 32 bit variable (4,294,967,296 times!). Images usually are usually represented with 8 bits for each of red, green and blue plus an extra 8 bits for transparency information (alpha channel): a total of 32 bits. Consequently for many cases, using a 64 bit variable will be wasting at least the top 32 bits. Not only this, but the size of an integer array has now doubled too. This means programs take up more system memory (and thus more cache) for no real improvement.

Theme #23: RGBA(3)

The third theme from my RGBA series, consisting of themes that sync with your mobile appearance settings. It uses your icon, fonts, colors, and other display options from the mobile theme so you no longer have to wait till you get to your desktop to customize your blog.

With discreet navigation and an unobtrusive sidebar, this theme works excellently for content-first blogs, but you can enable the gradient borders to add a bit of flair as well.

Como saber o código de uma cor (HTML/CSS) — Parte 2

Em um outro post eu ensinei como pegar o código hexadecimal de uma cor usando o selecionador de cores do Tumblr (para ver a Parte 1, clique aqui). Agora eu vou ensinar como pegar o código de uma cor utilizando selecionadores de cor que não fornecem o código hexadecimal.

Você pode ver que o selecionador de cores da imagem anterior não mostra o código hexadecimal da cor. Então nesse caso, para pegar o código da cor você deve copiar os valores de Vermelho, Verde e Azul, que são informados pelo seletor: 

Colocando a cor no código:

Você deve colocar os valores da cor no seu código da seguinte forma:

rbg(36,189,158)

O primeiro valor é o Vermelho (Red), o segundo é o Verde (Green) e o terceiro é o Azul (Blue). Você deve colocar sempre nessa ordem: RGB.

Aqui vai um exemplo quase “ao vivo” de como adicionar o código da cor ao CSS:

Adicionando opacidade:

O interessante desse método é que ele ainda nos permite adicionar opacidade à cor, algo que pelo método hexadecimal não dá pra fazer.

Para isso, colocamos um a (esse A vem de Alfa) na frente de rgb e mais um espaço para outro valor, no final, dentro dos parêntesis:

rbga(36,189,158,0.5)

O valor do A (o último valor) deve ser de 0 a 1. Sendo 0 a opacidade mínima, ou seja, totalmente transparente/invisível; e 1 a opacidade máxima, ou seja, sem transparência/totalmente visível.

Para deixar a cor mais ou menos transparente você deve colocar um número com vírgula (de 0 a 1 como eu mencionei). Mas lembre-se sempre que em HTML e CSS as vírgulas são indicadas com ponto, assim:

rbga(36,189,158,0.7)

Theme #20: RGBA(1)

Mobile bloggers: have you ever wanted to change your desktop theme, but were forced to wait till you got to a computer? Have you found yourself wishing the colors on your mobile theme would synchronize across devices so you wouldn’t end up with clashing color schemes, but (understandably) don’t want to use Optica? Look no further.

This is the first theme from my new RGBA() series, a line of simple, light, accessible themes that take under two minutes to fully set up. Because they are designed for quick use, these themes are ideal for anyone who wants a clean desktop theme without spending ages getting it to look right. And this is the best part - its colors synchronize with your mobile theme, so you can control how your blog looks from anywhere.

The series is named after the syntax for semi-transparent colors for a good reason - it recycles varying opacities of a single accent color throughout the page, creating a harmonious look with very little effort on the user’s part. Regardless of whether you’d rather use custom colors on desktop or you prefer the mobile-optimized version, the theme only needs three colors from you - text color, the background for the text, and an accent.

I’d really appreciate reblogs on this one, the better to help people who could really use something like this haha.

Three color options. For the mobile colors version, the title color from your mobile theme doubles as the text color on desktop. (I don’t understand why staff didn’t just have a text color option for the description and use the accent color for the title, but them’s the breaks - I can’t control how the global variables function, sadly.)
