There's no need to be snappy 🐊 Crawl 2019 is a Horror and thriller survival film, starring Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper. Premise of the movie, revolves around Florida resident's Haley and her estranged father Dave, who both become trapped underneath their basement during a massive hurricane, while struggling to escape, they soon learn, that may not be alone in the basement and the floodwaters may have brought some unwelcome and hungry guests. In most cases creature fest movies are usually treated with slapstick humour, over the top set pieces, and unreal special effects towards the "creature" Crawl however attempts and succeeds in most cases, in creating a real time atmosphere and situation, also allowing the characters to be given more 3 dimensionality, and learn more about their relationship and why they are estranged towards each other. The effects of the Gators are excellent, grounded in reality, their behaviour, and the physics are near spot on and are delight to see on screen. It's a fresh take to watch a movie that doesn't over exaggerate the "creature" but shows and unveils them as real animals, in real size. The movie is a basic survival film, but it attempt to make you feel more invested in the characters themselves and their survival. Plus there's a dog so I was on edge of my bed Haha 🐶🐊 Simple storytelling, but also thrilling yet enjoyable, and nowdays I find it more enjoyable to watch creature fest movies that are more grounded than having a giant or mutated monster. “A modern B-movie done right, CRAWL is a lot of creature feature fun. While not deep in its characterizations and dramatic narrative, the use of a massive hurricane and a duo of alligators creates a lot of suspense, tension and action in a grounded way that you won’t be seeing on any SyFy Original anytime soon. Alexandre Aja directs a tense thriller, making the film’s 87 minutes fly by with active characters, alligator violence and plot devices that are convenient, but no less entertaining. The alligators themselves, pretty much full CGI, look amazing for a film like this, moving and acting mostly believably - although the film could have used a bit more gore, as a lot of the violence happens offscreen until the final act really. THE MAZE RUNNER’s Kaya Scodelario is really great as the lead Haley, supported wonderfully by Barry Pepper, as both actors take their roles very seriously and don’t treat the film as a joke. On paper, CRAWL looks like total fluff that most audiences would snub their noses at. But with a great director, fantastic actors, and a breezy story to go along with it, CRAWL is a good popcorn B-movie that deserves your attention if you dig animals running amok.”

What's worse getting eating, a shark or an alligator? Well there's no sharks around but alligators to deal with in Crawl. A swimmer goes and see her dad until a major bad storm hits that creates a terrible flood in their house and brings in alligators to hunt them. It's a little similar to jaws but doesn't have sharks this time. It's an underrated movie and it's pretty good to see it again even it shows you how to survive from storms and alligators that will come into house. Beware of gators that'll crawl into your homes.
