A special #FollowFriday for Jen aka crayonclown. Aside from having an excellent Bones blog, she's just (as in, today) had a beautiful, healthy baby boy called Lucas.
Also, her icon is David Boreanaz's bum. What more could you ask for?!
crayonclown replied to your post: Let’s go take this test guys. and get some Taco...
I really want Taco Bell now. :|
Have hubby go get you some! Tell him that Lucas really wants a burrito :P
found-in-a-melody replied to your post: If someone wants to buy Sibelius 7 for me, that would be great, thanks.
that crap is way too expensive…
I know. *sobs* I was probably going to use my gig money to buy it, but since I'm on bed rest, I can't keep my gig commitments. No gigs = no $$$. The program would be an amazing addition to the "Let's keep Jen from going crazy during bed rest" activities. Maybe, I'll just steal my husband's gig money. Hmmm.
If someone wants to buy Sibelius 7 for me, that would be great, thanks.
Or even maybe someone could figure out how to crack the key?
So... Yesterday morning, I did go into labor. Actual labor, not just Braxton Hicks.
But we got it stopped and everything is fine.
Apparently, all of this traveling and stuff for the tour and Thanksgiving was really stressing me and Lucas out.
Also, I've developed this pesky thing called preeclampsia. My blood pressure is running on the very high side and there is excess protein in my urine. I've also gained too much weight too fast.
Now, I'm on bed rest for a bit. Which means that I probably won't be able to keep my commitments to some of my upcoming gigs and definitely no stressful subbing jobs, which really sucks, because I usually use that money to splurge on stuff for me and Douglas for Christmas. It's a big loss when you think about it because we usually have anywhere from 4-6 gigs each in December where it isn't unusual for me and Douglas to each earn around $500/gig. Now, we'll just have D's share from the gigs, which cuts that part of our income in half. Douglas makes enough money in his day job for us to still splurge on ourselves, it's just nice to have the extra cash and feel loaded every once in a while.
Anyways, if I start showing signs of labor again, they'll still try to stop it, but I'll probably get steroids to help mature Lucas' lungs in case they can't stop it again.

I forgot how exhausting a recording session can be.
We played the first half of the hour not knowing that the recording equipment wasn't working, and when they figured out that it wasn't, we had to start over.
During which we had to play straight through the piece for the scratch track and then we replayed different sections of the same thing over and over again because someone kept making a sound, coughing, dropping something, or because someone's phone went off. WHO THE FUCK KEEPS THEIR CELL PHONE ON DURING A RECORDING SESSION ANYWAY?! I can understand accidentally tapping the music stand with a bow, or something involuntary like coughing or sneezing or making a pre-press/bite/pull noise with the bow, but seriously with the cell phone.
Nice surprise of the night was getting paid. I didn't expect to get paid for this gig because it was for a high school student who composed this piece and needed to record it for his college applications. I was willing to help this kid out if it meant the difference of him getting into a good music school. I'd have done it for free, but it's nice that he was able to compensate us in some way.
Now I have 10 days before my next rehearsal or anything significant. Thank God for the break.
