My First Onsite Trip – Part 3
So I am back again to continue sharing my experience of onsite travel. Travelling to another country has been an experience of a life time. This actually becomes more interesting if you are in a country where the common language which is English. I was in Switzerland and this country is amazing.
( function() if (window.CHITIKA === undefined) window.CHITIKA = 'units' : [] ; ; var unit = 'publisher' : 'Codingshivaay', 'width' : 468, 'height' : 120, 'sid' : "wordpress-plugin above", 'color_site_link' : '41A995', 'color_title' : '41A995', 'color_text' : '41A995', 'color_bg' : 'ffffff', 'font_title' : '', 'font_text' : '', 'impsrc' : 'wordpress', 'calltype' : 'async[2]' ; var placement_id = window.CHITIKA.units.length; window.CHITIKA.units.push(unit); var x = "<di" + "v id='chitikaAdBlock-"+placement_id+"'>"; document.write(x); ());
Meeting with the Police at Onsite.
As soon as I landed in Zurich, I was searching for the cab. I talked to one person he quote certain amount of money for taking me via his cab. I told him my company can reimburse only this much and I can pay that. He agreed deal done. While going to the hotel in the cab, we had a good talk. To me drive looked bit over confident. My assumption was right, it got proved in next 10 minutes.
While we were going towards the hotel, a place came where there was a long queue of cars one after another. The driver told me it’s the tunnel ahead. My over confident driver started overtaking them, meaning out of queue thinking himself to be over smart when other people were waiting in the queue. As soon as he enters the tunnel he was like see stupid people waiting in the queue. I was thinking at that moment it’s just like my country. But this thinking got proved wrong.
As soon as we came out of the tunnel, I see this Police van standing signaling us to stop. The look on the driver told me everything. We stopped our car, the driver passed his driving license to the Police man. While Police man was issuing him a ticket, I asked him what happened, talk to him and get it resolved. He said bloody ********** will shoot me if I get out.
My driver was issued a ticket of amount 1.5 times of what I was supposed to pay. For the rest of the journey he did not even talk but I was happy that rule breakers are punished heavily in this country.
Travelling without a ticket in Bus
Coming to another instance where again I made a fool of myself. I have fixed an appointment for finding a flat. Now this is the first time I will be travelling to some place locally as hotel was at walking distance.
I asked my manager how to reach a certain place, he told me to take a ticket at railway station and get on the train. Once you get off the train take a bus to reach the other place. I was like okay, I bought the ticket and boarded the train. Once I got off from the train and went to bus stand to board the bus. The bus came, I boarded it and sat on one seat.
In India you normally have a conductor in the bus to issue the ticket. I do not find anyone here. I got bit worried what to do. Then I thought they might charge you once you get off from the bus, but then anyone can make a fool. I was getting worried. Meanwhile I reached my bus stop and got off looking for the person to issue me ticket. But no one was there.
I narrated this whole incident to the property consultant. He started laughing and told me we don’t have any conductor in the bus. Each bus stop has a ticket issuing machine. I requested him to show me and help me out. I was actually surprised to see how brilliantly the whole system works.
What is I believe is India shall actually work on making it traffic rules more strict, at least 30-40% change for better will happen. Rest 60-70% actually depends on the person doing his duty honestly.
I will talk about more of such experience in next blog.
