I love GPS. Love it. Like so many things, I don't really understand it. Apparently there are satellites up there that broadcast a signal and the GPS receiver picks up the broadcasts and can triangulate my position from the interaction of the signals. Or something like that.
Most of the time, this thing works pretty well. But sometimes (actually more than sometimes, but less than often) it goes berzerk. At least, it does on my iPhone in my running app, the fantastic Runkeeper. Yesterday, was one of those days. My normally 6.8 mile run to Prospect park in Brooklyn and back to my apartment was clocked at over SEVENTEEN miles. It looks like I ran the entire route dressed as a headless chicken.
I don't think I could have created this path if I tried, and I'm crazy curious as to how the GPS did it...
