the creator of Xtale, Jakei, has stated they do not want anymore shipping of cross x dream. If you need more proof, there is a post on their main blog explaining everything.

What was Cross and Dream's first time

hello!! im not sure if this was asked so- dark cream comic is an alternate timeline right? but which au??

OH this is a tricky one. ★ I've thought a lot about it, let's try to put it all together...

Cream comic starts with Cross & Dream's meeting in a void. They're not familiar (though Dream has Cross' hopes and dreams); we only know that Cross works for Nightmare (who "introduces" his brother). This is important because that means this is, most likely, Underverse's beginning.

Later Dream moves them in Heaventale, and after Cream comic, they begin to roam the Multiverse as outcodes until they're thrown back into the void after the incident.

Let's turn to Dreamtale brothers. Their AU is considered destroyed, but, unlike XTale, it didn't cease to exist and function as an AU in the Multiverse. Hence, Dream and Nightmare are offsprings of their AU.

And we'd be cool if not for one thing: Dreamtale's endings do not imply the exit of any of the brothers out of the AU. Which means that the mentioned events can't be part of Dream's (and Cross') AU's timeline(s).

"But what about Shattered? His character and AU's events are a direct continuation of Dreamtale!" The thing is, the preconditions and consequences are completely different there, and the idea only is used for Dark Cream story.

Back to Underverse. What it is? A story about Multiverse's outcodes that covers the events of many, many AUs, touching only a few of their timelines. It can't be considered an AU but it has its own events the outcodes affect and which have consequences for other AU's functioning. (The same thing happened with Heaventale). We follow the "one and only" story while there are actually thousands of possibilities for Underverse (Multiverse's events) itself.

Despite the fact that the outcodes exist inside the Multiverse but outside their AUs, they're all offsprings of not just their AUs but their own timelines. Cross, Dream and Nightmare, even Error and Ink, are all living extensions of their ruined AUs.

We can finally assume that timelines can exist outside of AUs and span multiple ones. That is, following the routes (including the voids' events), we come to a simple conclusion: Dark Cream story exists in Underverse's (or the Multiverse's) side timeline.

All this fiddling with timelines was to prove that any story, regardless of AUs, has its own timeline (or interweaving of timelines <3) and its alternatives (the same bad endings).

Hmm... there's one special moment! ☆

Do you remember Cross telling Dream to go to sleep and that he himself was going to Grillby's for "some... coffee... Yes! Coffee"? We get that he's gonna get drunk, he just doesn't want Dream to know about it.

But in the end, we see Cross sitting in a bar with a cup of coffee. ♡
