Journalistic Tools
There are a plethora of great tools journalists can take advantage of today. While I found a lot of websites and tools that looked helpful, one stood out from the rest. It's a website called Creatavist, which can be found at www.creatavist.com. What really struck me about this website was the format and platforms it offered. The websites I viewed had such a captivating mixture of media. The photographs were large and had great placement. Some of the photographs were filling the entire computer screen. There were photographs on top of larger photographs, and all of the media moved with my scrolling. The website is very mobile-friendly, there's an app for it.
With Creatavist, you start your project, design it, publish it anywhere you wish, and can then launch an app for it. The design part is particularly fascinating to me. There are so many options on this site. You can include images, you can layer images, and you can embed videos. You can also include maps and timelines, both of which are very popular in the journalism world. Creatavist seems to really focus on design and presentation and I think that's really important for journalists. All of the media posted through this site have been very visually appealing. Creatavist is a great tool for journalists to use as a platform for their works.
