How to write your book Step 72
What does that mean?
In your writing you need to make almost everything you write, mean something. No- forget the almost. If you are writing anything at all that doesn’t mean anything, leave it out. If you have put your character on the corner of South and Pritchett street.... Why? Is is important? Does it mean anything? If it does already have meaning in your book, great! If it doesn’t... make something up. Make it mean something. Why there in particular? Why not somewhere else? Find the meaning in everything you write, and try to really express that to your reader, even if they don’t all get the subtle meanings in every single little thing, someone will. Someone will know. Someone will make all the various little connections that you made.
You Need a ‘Why’!
“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” —Simon Sinek

Why ‘Why’?
Whether you realize it or not, your success is driven by your passion. Success isn’t about money, who you know, or where you come from; it stems from a fire burning deep in your soul. Success comes from knowing ‘why’ you do what you do and then being loyal to that ‘why’ in your words and…

Don’t Just Survive as a Leader, Thrive as a Leader

Exciting News for Create Meaning
For the past year, I have worked with Kirk Loadman-Copeland to implement his beautiful vision of a center for spiritual renewal which we named Create Meaning. The combination of our skills got it off the ground, and I have loved my involvement as Executive Director. Big thanks to Dan Lillie and Beth Chronister for their efforts, and to the folks who are creating meaning in South Bay L.A (John Morehouse and Kim Gosney).
Effective April 1st, I am passing the Executive Director baton to Amy Rowland who has the background and skills to take Create Meaning even higher and wider. Amy is passionate about life-long learning and creating opportunities for individuals and communities to intersect in new and expansive ways. She has a doctorate in ethics and advanced degrees in social work and theology, and is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister. She has served as director of a housing and mentoring re-entry program for women coming out of prison and as managing editor of an international academic journal. She is excited about this new venture with Create Meaning! She can be reached at [email protected]
Lynn Hopkins has joined the team as web administrator.
Join me in welcoming both Amy and Lynn.
I will stay involved as an instructor in the Denver area and hope to contribute lots of content to the site.
Thank you for all of your support. Together, we are growing spiritually, connecting in community, and making the world a better place.
