Yes I'm copy pasting but I wanna make it its own post so...
I can't stop thinking of cream au where she's a graffiti artist but like, draws pretty flowers and stuff. Vanilla might disapprove at first, but understand it's nothing out of ill intent and just pure childish creativity, and support her, buying her little bandannas and cute hoodies, backpacks, and sunglasses, so she doesn't get caught by cops. Sonic is all for it and helps her get away when she needs to, Tails is working on making a yellow spray paint that looks like his fur, and Knuckles.. idk, he's doing knuckles stuff? Maybe teaching Cream how to climb walls, since ear flight is hard with a hoodie.
What I know for certain is Charmy and Cream start hanging out when Charmy finds Cream doing graffiti, Cream goes to run and Charmy goes "Hell Yeah, lemme join!!!" And they start shenanigans together. Vanilla is, of course, working on Charmy's manners, and while she thinks Charmy isn't the best influence, she knows the others will keep him in line the best they can. Cheese also gets a little outfit btw, because Cream wants Cheese to be safe.
And in case you're wondering:
Amy isn't the most approving at first, same deal with Vanilla, and helps Cream if she gets any injuries.
Big just reminds Cream not to spray near important water sources, as they could harm the fish.
Shadow also helps Cream escape cops but only really rough chases, and they ride the motorcycle together.
Blaze is surprisingly very approving, you'd think given her royal status she'd disapprove of damage to a kingdoms property, and you'd be right, but she ends up hiring Cream for Murals, and her work is celebrated. Plus Cream doesn't mind getting paid in food she can bring home for Vanilla, she wants to help her mama, and money can get tight.
Silver loves Creams freedom of expression, it reflects how kind she is, and he can see it in every bit of color on the wall.
Vector and Espio are both incredibly happy to have someone Charmy can hang out with, and even more relieved to find out he's getting better mannered.
Egghead is annoyed by the graffiti everywhere on HIS property, knows who's doing it, and has actively sent badniks after her multiple times. Totally Unrelated but Cream is getting a lot better at fending for herself, and getting creative. Tails even made a special kind of corrosive spraypaint that's safe for skin, but not for machines, don't ask how.
Sticks is still Sticks, of course she approves of destroying property, especially government property. (My knowledge of Sticks is based off the Sonic Boom cartoon, so if I'm missing anything important lemme know)
I don't really know a lot about comic characters besides surge who's a fucking punk and will totally approve of it.
Omega (can't believe I forgot the goat) protects cream in really bad badnik swarms, and Cream, while not the most supportive of heavy gunfire and explosives, is grateful for the aid.
Rouge (Can't believe I forgot her too..) doesn't interact much, they might have met once or twice, but Rouge cares a lot for her safety, after all who doesn't? Rouge might try finding Shadow and run into her a couple times, but that's really it.
And here's the charmy viewpoints, which are relatively the same(?):
First things first, if Cream and Charmy are hanging out, everyone, and I mean everyone (except egghead, more on that later) will be sad if Cream gets hurt from Charmy's innate desire to have fun and chaos. e's young, but rambunctious, and the only thing they fear more than Cream getting bad manners is Cream getting hurt. Charmy in this AU is probably gonna learn pretty quick that if Cream gets hurt, and it's his fault in any way, there's gonna be problems. Cream is of course responsible, respectable, and safe, but Charmy can sometimes land them in bad situations, entirely on accident (he's very prone to those, and he really wants to finish the little bee he's drawing). At the end of the day, while it can seem tense, everyone is trusting of Cream to keep Charmy safe, and Charmy to keep things interesting, which leads me to individual opinions!
Sonic: I keep thinking of this quote I read in some fan comic, "isn't it obvious? the only thing I fear more than death, is boredom." Sonic understands Charmy can make things tough, and while he loves saving the little ones, Sonic is good at heart. He always watches the two when he can, often acting as watchdog so the two can focus (they develop REALLY good teamwork btw.)
Shadow: Everyone's favorite over protective rodent is especially active at night, the two can make mistakes when they're tired so he acts as a more keen watchdog than Sonic, especially since Sonic can also get tired. Rarely, the two will meet, and have developed 'shifts' in which one goes to bed, or do something else, and the other keeps watch.
Knuckles: Of course he's incredibly protective he's Knuckles, Mister no Chuckles, gotta crack skulls and don't give a fuckles (ok that was a stretch). He also acts as guard, especially when Sonic has world saving matters to attend to, or Egghead is causing a fuss. Knuckles and Shadow share a bond of protection, and the first time they exchanged watch duty it went like this:
Knux: "Shadow? what are you doing here. Shouldn't you be doing wheelies on your bike or some other cool stuff?"
Shads: "I'm here to exchange watch duty, where's Sonic?"
Knux: "fighting robuttnik, as per usual. I'm keeping guard in his stead."
Awkward pause, and intense staring
Both, at the same time: "You better be keeping them safe!"
They pause, and can't help but laugh, and share a fist bump before Knuckles leaves to check on the Master Emerald.

Tails: Of course tails is helping Cream a ton with gadgets, his current paint-o-matic 3k (don't ask about 1k and 2k) is a backpack that has every possible color of paint, perfect so Cream doesn't have to carry so many heavy cans. Plus it's pretty lightweight, and has a handy color changing screen, coat changer, and some other nifty features, it's still a work in progress though so don't expect to see Cream wielding a paint cannon any time soon. Charmy also wants one, obviously. Tails will obviously warn Charmy about the dangers and such, and to be careful with it, but that's for when it's done, right now it's a matter of how the hell he's gonna wear the backpack while flying. Tails knows flying can be draining, and while Charmy is a ball of energy, he can get tired too, especially if carrying something while flying.
Rouge: Charmy and Rouge know each other because Charmy's part of the detective agency, and of course Rouge has been a suspect a couple of times for various things. Charmy off the clock is a lot more tolerable to be around, but Rouge is still wary and never says too much. She does love giving both of them advice on colors and style, and has met Vanilla a few times, since Vanilla sometimes picks the both of them up when it gets too late. Rouge and Vanilla have history in this AU, that's for later when I figure out how to make it work, plus I want Vanilla to play a bigger role. Cream isn't a latchkey kid and I don't wanna make her one. Back to Charmy though, Rouge is tolerant of him.
Egghead: Charmy and Egghead often butt heads, Charmy is a lot more active in protecting Cream form Eggman, and everyone is grateful he shows some responsibility. He's a troublemaker sure, but he's a heart of honey gold. Charmy's been collecting the scraps too, best not to let Egghead get his metal back yknow? He brings the bits to Tails for him to study or scrap, and joins Sonic in making fun of the Yolk Joke XD
Big: Charmy and Big definitely go fishing, and it helps Charmy learn Focus over Action. Learning to keep calm helps with his sprays too, and in general Big is a big (hehe) influence on him, being calm and gentle in a way Charmy doesn't get often, and if there's one thing Big is good at, it's being patient. Plus Charmy is really good help for finding Froggy!
Sticks: The worst and somehow best influence for Charmy. They both get into long talks about crazy conspiracy's, recent cases, and their shared hatred for order. At the same time however, Sticks is also a very kind and caring individual deep down, and avoids topics that might upset him, or anything she thinks he isn't ready for. Of course the two cause mayhem for egghead in their spare time, and particularly enjoy getting burgers together. Sticks is very much an important member in Charmy's life. That being said, they both avoid talking about their parents for reasons neither wants to get into.
(ok look I don't know much about their family situation but sticks from what I remember didn't enjoy talking about her family, and I don't know if Charmy was put up for adoption or something, but I have ideas in mind for the both of them. Lemme know if I'm missing big lore here.)
Omega: Charmy is terrified of Omega at first because 1. egghead robot and 2. big robot with a lot of hatred is no good for a troublemaker like him, but Omega warms up to Charmy, and sometimes when they find each other, they go out hunting badniks for fun.
Surge: Surge likes Charmy's personality and overall outlook on things, And sometimes when nobody's around, they hang out. Only once did she ever get caught playing guard duty and it was like this:
Surge: Respectfully watching the two from a distance while Sonic is on watch, it's getting late.
Shads: "I didn't expect to see you here, Surge."
Surge: "I could say the same for you pal."
Shads: "Don't call me that."
Shads: "The only reason I have restraint on tossing you into the next two buildings is because Sonic trusts you, so the best thing you could do for you and your spine is tell me why the hell you're here."
Surge: "Sonic doesn't do night life like we do, and I don't want Charmy getting hurt, that's all."
Shads, somewhat surprised, but thinks about it, and nods respectfully: "I take Sonic's shift when he gets too tired."
He thinks for a moment, they both share the silence.
"You're welcome to join me.."
Surge, caught off guard, thinks for a moment.
Surge: "I'll watch from up here. I don't wanna freak the blue freak out."
Shadow nods in understanding. Shadow heads down to let Sonic know his shift is up, and Sonic notices Surge on the nearby building. He smiles, and dashes off. Surge still hates his guts, but at the end of the day they both share that caring, whether Surge wants to show it or not.
A friendly reminder you can press alt+f4 to send me hate mail :D Seriously though, From what I know about surge (and again I don't read the comics so it isn't a ton just what I see around tumblr), Surge is very anti-hero in the same sense Shadow is, they have their stories, similarities, and differences, but at the end of the day, Surge is figuring out who she is herself, not what others tell her. I want her interactions with Shadow to reflect that. They don't share it but they both feel that energy they share, the fight to find themselves, and while Surge is still new at it, Shadow understands it's a journey you have to take alone, and gives her that space.
Surge tangent aside, moving on!
Cream: Charmy and Cream are of course besties in this AU, but it should be noted that Cream is worried for his safety, especially on more dangerous outings.
Vanilla, this is a big one btw:
Vanilla is kind, caring, and supportive of Cream and Charmy, but will be very cross if a single scratch so much as attempts to show itself on her precious child. She's protective, and often over protective, but understands a growing child needs her space, and this is a part of her life she shouldn't interfere with. Vanilla is often working, and Sonic's friends helping her take care of Cream is appreciative, especially Blaze, who she has a lot of respect for. Vanilla is very much a large part of the story, if something happens involving Cream in any way, Vanilla is always somewhere in the mix, whether it's dropping the kids off at a spray spot, or keeping the cops off their back, Vanilla is supportive and will always have her daughter's back.
Vanilla Trivia for the AU!!!:
Vanilla and Shadow talk a lot. Shadow tells Vanilla everything and leaves nothing out of the picture. He gives the times of events, notes on Cream's skills, and any strange happenings, including the run in with Surge...
Surge and Vanilla met once, and only once, so far. Surge was minding her business shopping and Vanilla found her 'completely on accident' and they sparked (eh? get it?) a conversation. Surge talks about some of her victories helping people, which was Amy's idea, and Vanilla respects that, but she also understands Surge has given Sonic trouble before. She respects Surge for now, but if Cream gets hurt, the price to pay will be more than hell could give in fury. Surge may be nonchalant with cream, might give her some stylization tips for sprays, but when Vanilla's around, she's as respectful as possible, and attempts good manners. Cream giggles at this sometimes, and it makes Vanilla smile.
Vanilla and Big hit it off strong, and Vanilla often makes fresh pies for Bigs longer fishing trips. Cream helps, of course, and Big often brings them some fish to enjoy! He also makes a really good fish stew, a recipe he only shared with Vanilla. The secret? The pot and the Passion, he always uses the same pot, which gives it a very good recurring flavor, and while he does wash it regularly (he wants to make sanitary food after all), he makes sure it can keep its distinct flavor. Also, surprisingly, taco seasoning works wonders for a lot of dishes, and he gets some extra whenever he orders tacos for him and his fishing buddies. Some people say Big has a crush on Vanilla, but rest assured, Big only loves two things, Froggy, and Fishing. He does like Vanilla though, and treats her as a closer friend than most.
Vanilla and Blaze share that fiery protective passion, and they make each other food whenever one visits. One time they made the same dish, a lemon pie. They had a laugh about it over tea. Blaze might say she doesn't care much for tea, but with Vanilla, it's always a pleasure.
Vanilla and Amy often make food for each other as well! Amy cares a lot for Cream, and will often babysit if Sonic or Knuckles isn't around. Amy doesn't accept payment, saying "I'm just helping Vanilla out."
Sticks is very very respectful and polite around Vanilla, even wearing her nicer clothes. Vanilla sees this and is happy Sticks doesn't make a mess. Sticks respects Vanilla a lot, being a single mother is hard, especially when your daughter has so many adventures. Sticks can see how strung up Vanilla is and absolutely refuses to push her luck, she knows what happens when a mama snaps first hand and it isn't pretty for anyone..
Charmy and Vanilla started kind of rough, but over time it was clear that if Charmy and Cream were to keep hanging out, he'd have to earn Vanilla's respect. When Cream got sick, Charmy and the rest of the CDA Showed up with some food to help Cream feel better. Charmy even brought a gift, an easel, a canvas, and some paints, bought with his own hard earned money, so Cream could paint even when she wasn't well. This action alone made Vanilla trust Charmy a lot more, and proved to everyone that Charmy wasn't just a ball of chaos, but rather a kind and gentle person when given the chance.
Vanilla used to hang out with Rouge a lot, and pull of 'heists' with Rouge when the two were a lot younger. This was always small things, like nabbing an extra candy on Halloween, or getting an extra cookie from the cookie jar. Vanilla's Mother was always disapproving, and never around much, and when she was, well, Vanilla doesn't like talking about it. As Rouge grew more ambitious, Vanilla stepped away from the thievery, but still maintained that friendship, until one day, a huge fight broke out between Rouge and Vanilla. Vanilla caught Rouge stealing from her Mothers jewelry box, and was furious, thinking Rouge was playing the long con, and abusing their friendship, but Rouge never meant to hurt their friendship, she was never supposed to find out anyways, and she'd never use someone to get her way. After some heavy words being traded, and tearful remarks, Rouge said her goodbyes, and flew out the window, leaving the jewels, and her ruined friendship, behind.
When Shadow told Vanilla that Rouge had been around cream, giving advice on painting and such, Vanilla was visibly angry, and I mean angry, like the kind of angry only a Mother could be. Shadow didn't pick up as his eyes were closed sipping tea, which Vanilla made, and he told Vanilla where Rouge was heading, some jewelers up the street not too far from here. He opened his eyes when he heard the door slam, and, upon realizing the mistake he made, ran to get Sonic. Sonic was of course sleeping, and was quite surprised to be awoken by Shadow banging on the door. Sonic, upon hearing the story, had a terrible expression of dread on his face. Vanilla was intimidating, a force to be reckoned with even when slightly bothered, but angry? The thought terrified him, and they both rushed off as fast as they could, heading towards the jewelers shop.
Rouge was approaching the jewelers when she was blindsided by a thrown stone. She fell and looked up to see Vanilla standing on the opposite side of the road, full of fury.
Rouge: "Long time no see fluffy.."
Vanilla: "I know you were talking to my Daughter, you keep your grubby hands out of her life or so help me Chaos I will fry your wings and serve them at the state fair."
R: "I was just giving some color advice, no need to get snappy at me Buns-"
V: "You lost your right to call me that when you Left me to take the fault, when you tried to steal from my own Mother, when you betrayed me and my family."
R: "You were never meant to find out and I never meant to hurt you, I was gonna sell it and give you the money so you could run with me far away from the hellhole you called a living situation-"
V, beginning to cry: "Then why didn't you come back? Why did you leave me to suffer the consequences? I had a scar for three days that I had to hide when I went to school, your disappearance was all over the town and they all suspected me of terrible things, all because you left me!"
R: "I WAS SCARED OK? Your Mother was violent and I didn't want to suffer her wrath-"
V: "So you left me to be the scapegoat huh? didn't want to take the blame, so you left me to pick up the mess you made?"
R: "That's not what I meant-"
V: "It's not your intentions, but your actions that matter, you taught me that, and it's the only good thing I ever got from you."
R: "I introduced you to Ice, that was a good thin-"
V: "He's dead, and has been dead for years now, killed in one of Eggman's fights, but you wouldn't know that.. You wouldn't know anything about the hellish life I've been leading since you left me, you Selfish, Greedy, Batty Bitch."
R: "What the Fuck did you just call me?"
The two begin walking towards each other, hurling insults and snarky remarks, Vanilla is of course way better than Rouge is, and the two finally go to fists when Rouge throws the first punch. Rouge narrowly misses and Vanilla retaliates by getting behind, and kicking Rouge in the back of the leg. Rouge keeps steady and twirls on her heel, hitting Vanilla in the face. Vanilla reels back and catches Rouge's foot when she attempts to do a flying kick. Vanilla slams Rouge into the ground and kicks her across the street into a nearby building. Rouge kicks off it and throws a smoke bomb, attempting to confuse Vanilla so she can get a sneaky attack to her side. Vanilla hears her coming and blocks, pushing her off and using the smoke to her advantage, punches her in the chest. Rouge is winded for a moment but gets up in time to dodge an elbow to her face. Rouge lands a solid punch to Vanilla's face with her ringed finger and Vanilla punches back, hitting a bit harder and staggering Rouge. Rouge gains composure as the smoke clears out and they keep fighting until Shadow approaches the scene with Sonic, who he called in to help mediate the situation.
V: "I'm gonna use your wings for a PURSE you double crossing bitch!"
R: "When I get my hands on you I'm gonna use your hide for a handbag!!"
Sonic and Shadow are doing their best to hold the other two back, until..
???: "STOP FIGHTING, JUST STOP ALREADY!!!!"
Cream wandered onto the scene a couple minutes ago, and was visibly shaken and crying. She'd never seen Mama so angry, and Vanilla, realizing immediately what she'd done, looked mortified. Rouge shared the sunken look, and Shadow and Sonic kinda just stared at Cream, then each other, and decided to back off, they didn't wanna intrude on this. Vanilla rushed to her daughter and Cream takes a small step back.
Cream: "P-Please.. d-don't be mad anymore.. I-I'm scared.."
Vanilla quickly grabs Cream and holds her tightly to her chest in a deep hug. They both cry for a moment, and Rouge steps forward slowly.
Rouge: "Vanilla.." She takes a deep breath.. "I'm sorry.. I-"
Vanilla looks at Rouge, her eyes teary and her face distraught. Rouge only saw this face when Vanilla's mother was being especially cruel.. Rouge instinctively stepped back, but then got closer, tears in her own eyes.
Rouge: "I'm so sorry I left you.. I.. I wanted what was best for you, and I'm sorry I only made things worse.. I'm not the best with these touchy feely apologies, but.. I'm sorry.."
Vanilla: "I.. I can't forgive you.. But, I accept your apology.. I'm sorry for what I said.. I was just.. hurting.."
Rouge nods and offers to hug it out, and Vanilla accepts it. The two share a hug, and she offers Rouge to come over for tea so they could properly talk it out. They all go home, and Big is waiting with a big Shephard's pie. He tried baking, because he was grateful for Vanilla's kindness, and tasty food, and wanted to return the favor. It wasn't the best pie, but they all had a good laugh, and everything got better. Rouge gets invited for tea a lot more often, and Cream's started calling her Aunt Rouge. Vanilla, with a gaping wound in her heart now finally beginning to heal, can only smile.
Other Interactions with Characters!:
Amy is very supportive of Surge and often calms her down, and Surge helps Amy cut loose and have fun from time to time. They both care for the kids, and have a great respect for Vanilla, and the three sometimes have tea together.
Surge and Blaze only really interact when Amy's around, but the three of them make for one hell of a combo, both in combat, and in companionship. I think Blaze is either aroace or just not interested in either of them. Sometimes Surge, Amy, and Vanilla have tea with Blaze, and Shadow sometimes makes an appearance, he gets his coffee beans from blaze because she's the best at roasting them, and he takes no substitutes.
Surge and Big get along, but she tends to stay away from fishing, She doesn't want her Voltage effecting the waters. Big helps her with her emotional issues more often than not, and she secretly goes to Big with a lot of her problems. Big is very good with giving advice and they both have a lot of respect for each other.
Surge and Sticks are the best at causing problems for local law enforcement, and Sonic, who often has to clean up the mess..
here's some important stuff:
I don't know about the small blue one that follows Surge around a lot, from what little I do know they're like Surge's Tails? I haven't included them much because I don't wanna throw a character I know very little about into the mix, when I get more info on her though I'll be sure to make the proper modifications to the story.
Surge in general is a tough character to work with because I have so little info on her, but I have enough to gauge her personality (Sonic's freedom fighting attitude mixed with Shadow's complex past, and search for who they are.), so I included her, because she's awesome.
A lot of characters I left out are because I either forgot (huge woops), don't have enough knowledge about, or don't like. I don't have a lot of canon knowledge for the comics, and I didn't watch sonic prime, but I know about some of the games (minus forces, that newer open world one, and some spinoffs.), and I understand how characters interact, so I took what I could to make this. If you have criticisms, make sure they're helpful, I only take constructive criticism in mind. It can be harsh, but don't be insulting please, I'm not used to lots of writing like this XD.
The attentive of you may have noticed some characters don't interact a lot, that's because I don't really have reason for them to interact. Tails and Rouge are kinda just existing in their own worlds, occasionally crossing paths. There's a lot of those kinds of cases yknow?
I mention Big a lot, because 1. He's fucking Big. 2. He's a big part of the story. and 3. He interacts with Vanilla the most. I considered giving Big a crush on Vanilla but it'd break his big heart to get rejected, and I imagine Vanilla is very faithful.
You might've noticed me mention Cream's father, who I named Ice, Vanilla Ice Cream was something I found from a reddit post when looking for his name, which is never officially mentioned to my dismay.
I chose to focus on Vanilla and Cream a lot for this AU because 1. they're an amazing dynamic, and one I wish I could have with my own family. 2. Vanilla is getting a bit more love as of late and I wanna throw more out there. and 3. I like to imagine her past with Rouge is similar to Cream and Charmy's in this au, and though she sees a lot of Rouge in Charmy, she wants to give Cream a better life than she had, and so she gives her the space she needs to grow.
Why Sticks and Surge? Amy and Surge is great and I considered it, but I can see Sticks and Surge being a fun ship dynamic even if it's not a relationship, but rather a very strong friendship. I might step in the direction of Surgamy later down the line, but I don't want that to be the focus, this is Cream's spotlight AU.
Why Charmy? Why not? in all seriousness, Charmy was picked because I can see the two feeding off each other very well, and tails probably wouldn't be interested in graffiti. Plus, seeing a compassionate Charmy is kinda rare.
Where do I go from here? idk, I might make a separate blog for this AU, answering questions and maybe posting art if I get enough support.
Do Charmy and Cream have spray tags? Yes, I have ideas in mind, feel free to make your own though! I love seeing creativity blossom, especially if I inspired it.
What inspired all of this? @xrayman434x made a picture of Cream and Cheese in front of what looked to me like street graffiti, and I had a spark of genius. I made a much shorter version of all this in a reblog. I hope they see this and read all of it XD.

And yes, Cream gets a skateboard, and Cheese gets a modified skateboard. Or I guess one of the Air Rider hoverboards? Could be an interesting Line to follow, I'll think on it.
