Wanna Hear a Story?
As advertisers we are taught to tell stories, stories in print media, commercials, and logos just to name a few outlets. This is also a connection between nonprofits and CreateAthon they both have a story. The most compelling stories are the ones that give us great movement. Some of the best ways to make a compelling story is to make people fall in love with all of the elements, the characters, the plot, and most importantly the tone. The tone is what drives the whole story and these rules don’t just apply to novels, they apply to music, movies, even advertisements and commercials. (We all know we either cry or change the channel during the ASPCA commercial)
Being a compelling storyteller isn’t something that comes naturally or easy to most people and it is a tricky craft to learn, thus the reason for few good authors and songwriters. One of my favourite authors is F. Scott Fitzgerald, as I know he is many peoples favourite author and there is a reason for that his writing style provokes feeling and keeps you absorbed in the story. Upon doing some good research of great songwriters I don’t think I could even begin to compile a short list or even come up with a number one favourite songwriter.
Storytelling is one of our oldest traditions as humans, it was used a way of communication and entertainment. It began as word of mouth thus the reason we have so many different variation of the same story and the genre of folklore. Storytelling evolved from word of mouth but not by much we now write out stories but they are eventually told, whether it’s about the Facebook status you made last week or the song you are listening to on the radio. Storytelling is a tradition that has been around forever and doesn’t have any plans of leaving anytime soon.
Finally I leave you with this because who doesn’t love a cute kid telling a story:
