Terms of Participation and Creation Guidelines
To participate as a contributor in this zine, every creator must:
Have an email for correspondence (Discord is preferred for quick and group communication but is optional).
Reply to check-in emails in a timely manner. We want to make sure everything is running smoothly and everyone will meet deadlines. If something happens and you are unable to meet a deadline you must notify a moderator as soon as possible.
Follow the Creation Guidelines (listed below) for their piece.
If you choose to join the Discord server, you must follow the rules of the server (listed in the #rules channel, but generally: be courteous and play nice with others).
Agree to not post any w.i.p’s, snippets, previews, or finished pieces until it is time to do so, as mentioned on the Timeline. Moderators will announce when it is time.
All creators should do their best to keep to the theme, which is “a light in the darkness”/moments of hope, community, resilience, fortitude. Any questions about the theme are welcome and can be directed to the #ask-a-mod channel on Discord or message this blog.
Pieces can feature any character(s) from any Trolls media, including any of the movies, shows, or specials.
The zine will be kept G, PG at most.
Original characters (oc’s) are allowed, but we encourage creators to focus their pieces on canon characters. Oc’s are best for background extras (such as in a big group shot), side characters, and/or icons for the credits page. We understand that not everybody will be familiar with every oc, and we don’t want the material to be too confusing.
Canvas size per page will be 1575x2175 pixels or 5.25x7.25 inches (tall). This goes for scans or photographs of traditional artworks as well. [Template]
For all digital artists, it is recommended to work in CMYK color, set your canvas to a MINIMUM 300dpi, and saved as .PNG instead of .JPG/.JPEG when finished for best quality.
Word count for short stories and poetry will be 180 MAX (tested at 12pt font with lorem ipsum paragraph-style text). We highly recommend authors test out how their manuscripts will fit using the same template that we provide for artists. We will do our best to fit your work in the space provided but will contact you if we have any questions/concerns about fit or format.
All pieces must be edited and/or polished before final submission. This means we expect final pieces to be reviewed for errors, fics are edited, and artworks are colored and/or lined cleanly (depending on the artists’ personal style). Artworks made with traditional mediums must be scanned or photographed clearly and edited when necessary to preserve color and brightness quality. We want our creators to be proud of what they submit!
