While I dont agree with the other guy and your absolutely right not all gems are evil
But i DO think you three ARE a little harsh on us humans now before you get upset and angry just here me out
Im not trying to make light of the war but I think the fact you gems are pretty much immortal is working against you here since afterall it makes sense from your perspective to hold a grudges against another gem for eons cuz there probably gonna be around for eons too
But us humans? Yeah we live a 100 years if were lucky, any humans that could have help or did help pink from back then are dead and buried or just dust now, hell the whole war in the first place isnt even know off, its been forgotten to time for us, now before you get mad thinking thats us trying to brush it all away it isnt
But the point im trying to make is isnt it a little harsh to judge an entire species for acts that have long since past that they dont even remember nor have a single person alive who was apart of the war, it would be like condemning an entire cut of gems for the act one member of it despite the others having nothing to do with it
Im not saying suddenly get all buddy buddy with us but alteast be open to one day thinking about atleast opening a proper dialogue with humanity, holding onto old grudges and spite isnt good for anyone gems and humans alike
[[OOC: Politely: Anon, it isn't that deep x'D
You don't know what the new version of the gem war in The Harvester looks like. You don't know what caused it, what happened, what Pink's reasons were for it continuing, and all the nuances that led to her stepping down from the Diamond Authority.
In TH, it wasn't as simple as it was in SU. Both sides were wrong, in TH. The Diamonds were not big evil scary monsters bent on destroying Earth.
And, as you hopefully could tell, it's a HUGE sore spot for these characters.
And we must emphasize: Characters. They are narrative tools. Which we tell a story through.
Trying to justify yourself to a character who clearly gets angry about the subject at hand is going to result in them continuing to get angry, because we, the writers, are sticking to a narrative and characterization that we put in place for them.
You're trying to apply morals and reasoning as if talking to a real life human that you've had a disagreement with. These are fictional tools that are going to react strongly to certain things because that's what their established character would do.
It's like if you threatened Red. Hema will ALWAYS be upset by that because Hema loves and is protective of her. You couldn't 'reason' with him about it.
Yellow and Blue will always be upset by the war because they lost countless friends and workers to it.
White will always be upset by (REDACTED).
We kept interacting with your questions yesterday because they gave us chances to show characterization of the Diamonds that GOTR had not explored yet. However, if people start taking it actually PERSONALLY, we won't answer those types of asks. This is meant to be fun, and asks are supposed to be tools to find out more about the characters because you're either curious about them, or want to find out more info about the plot and world of TH.
Now, on a spoilery meta level, we also have to address something important in the subtext of all the Earth-related responses.
Earth just ISN'T important to TH. Never has been, never will be. TH is about the Hematites. About Homeworld. Earth has like 2ish chapters focused on it, and it has no bearing on anything. We just needed to strand Hema somewhere where he could learn Homeworld gems like himself aren't always welcome, an important lesson that will be narratively used later, and we liked the idea of putting some cheeky cameos in on Earth. Otherwise, we would have used some random planetoid for the important bits.
So, we've had the Diamonds be very dismissive of Earth in our asks because /it's not important to the story we're telling/ and we don't want to build it UP to be more important than it is. Rose/Pink is integral, but Earth is not. The war had MUCH more to do with other gem colonies. Earth was an unfortunate bystander in everything. In TH, humans didn't even /fight/ gems. Gemkind, even Homeworld gems, tried to keep humans out of it because there was no point in fighting organics that couldn't fight back. That was considered a war crime.
Anyways- we'll cut it off here.
You don't know the story. You don't yet understand why Yellow had such a strong reaction to your inflammatory words. And you should not be taking ANYTHING these characters say personally. They are narrative tools. And you, anon, are one of many people who we're using to tell their story through. Sometimes, that means these characters are going to be outright/nasty/ when answering things. Because conflict and complexity make good narratives!
So relax, sit back, and try to have a slightly less 'I must prove myself correct to these fictional characters' mindset about interacting with GOTR.
Now, on to Yellow's response.]]
