Countdown to Kisame Week '25!
Prompts have officially been released! As your firing up your creative capabilites, this week's Shark Facts with Kisame' Corner focus on sharks' sizes and age!
Size can have massive scaling! The largest shark is the 13.7 m (45 ft) whale shark. The 22 to 25 cm (8.7 to 9.8 in.) midwater shark and pygmy ribbontail catshark are among the smallest.
The oldest known shark species is the Greenland Shark. A study in 2016 calculated the age of 28 individual females, averaging an age range of 272-500 years old! This may be influenced by their Arctic habitat, which can slow their metabolisms.
Contrary to public belief most sharks are not large enough to create serious threats towards the average person–bigger sharks tend to live in deeper waters where human contact is less likely, given their need for large territory, food supply, and habitat.
Join us for Kisame Week 2025!
And so the countdown begins for Kisame Week 2025, our fifthyear running a week long event in celebration of our favourite shark man.
