MESH Confab Nov. 2015 brought together a very broad spectrum of Ghanaian Creative and Cultural community to meet, explore and share. This edition of MESH Confab for the first time saw an expo running parallel to the main event which as usual comprised of presentations from Keynote speakers, Portfolio Reviews and a live creative session. For a second time, the event was graced by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dziba Gomashie.

Key note speakers for the event were Paul Kweku Akrofie, founder and Designer of RPC who spoke on the [Challenges of ‘making’ in Ghana], Prof. Kwame Henaku Addo, an architect, industrial designer and development Activist who shared his [Visions of Ghana- A creative perspective on development] Sionne Neely, Co-founder of Accra[dot]alt who spoke on how her organization has been and continues to help shape [Accra’s evolving cultural landscape]

There was also a panel discussion on [Ghana’s evolving art and cultural landscape] with panel members including Namata Musisi of Archi-Afrika, Hassan Salih of MESH Ghana, Prof. Henaku Addo and Sionne Neely and moderated by Chief Moomen of the Bambu Centre.

Portfolio reviews session saw the likes of 2d Animator Winfred Adom screening his Once upon a songbird in collaboration with afro-jazz singer Adomaa, who mesmerized the audience with a live performance of her original score for the animation.

Illustrator Bright Akwerh talked the audience through his whimsical cartoon illustrations and the stories behind them and Joseph Amoateng from Phloshop presented his photography portfolio while Setor Fiadzigbey took the audience through his comical fantasy world of illustrations. Bertil Toby Svankiaer also screened foodies 3d animated series which came about as a result of being discovered at a previous MESH Confab and talked the audience through the making process, Richard Anane presented his Architecture Visualization portfolio while Pixilmotion animator Emmanuel Hanson, presented his portfolio of 3d animated commercials and shorts series Motombo.

The portfolio review session was followed by a live creative session that aimed to give participants insight into the  workflow of participating creatives. Demonstrators in this session were Richard Anane, who demonstrated 3d modeling and rendering, Bright Akwerh demonstrated digital drawing and painting, Joseph Amoateng from Phloshop demonstrated a studio photography shoot coupled with digital retouching and editing.

On display during the Expo, were bags from RPC, T-shirt prints from YesLord, 3d printing from 3d Craft Ghana and video exhibitions from Archi-Africa and MESHTV.

In attendance were over 300 participants including some of the most outspoken players in the creative industry such as Joe Addo of Archi-Afrika, Barbara Davis of the Advantage Group and Ghana Design Network, Emmanuel Agbeko Gamor of Y107.9FM, Victor Ofoegbu of Impact Hub Accra, Kobby Graham of Ashesi University and many more.

Feedback from participants and audience alike have been that of excitement and a yearning for more of such events. Many participants expressed shock at the level of Ghanaian creativity that was on display throughout the event and heavily congratulated MESH Ghana for putting together such an inspiring event.
