This Artist Is Making The World A Better Place With Simple (But Hilarious) Flyers
We’re reminded that our world can be a dark place each and every day. Every time we turn on the TV, scroll through social media, or pick up the newspaper, it seems like we’re greeted with more bad news.
South African artist Jaco Haasbroek is all too familiar with that fact. While he was out driving one day, he noticed that this negativity wasn’t limited to the media. After seeing a flyer for a stolen dog, he realized that heartbreak is everywhere. That’s when he decided to channel his creativity into a project that would spread some much-needed joy throughout his community.
Haasbroek’s collection — fittingly called The Good News — is designed with one goal in mind: to make people smile.

This artist has made it his mission to breathe new life into what could otherwise be misinterpreted as bad news.

After he saw the sign for the missing dog (which simply read “Stolen”), he thought, “By adding ‘Our Hearts’ at the bottom of the poster, it would completely change its meaning and turn it into something positive.”

Seriously…where do they go?

Haasbroek’s favorite piece? This one. “This was his day,” he said. “But at the same time, not quite.”

It sometimes feels like the only time we hear good news is after we hear about the bad stuff first. You know how it goes: “That’s terrible, but the good news is…”
But if you ask Jaco Haasbroek, that’s not enough. Why not break up all of that negativity with good news that’s good without any conditions…without any “at least” or “even though” in sight? With this wonderful project, he’s doing just that. To keep up with this artist’s awesome work, be sure to follow him on Instagram.
