David Martinez | Artist | Philadelphia, PA | @tzutahil Inspired by his older brothers who passed the “drawing torch on to him, David began drawing at the very young age of 7 years old. His first ever creation being a Pikachu that was paused on the television screen, opened his eyes to just more than coloring books and stick figures. “My brothers had the video paused to show Pikachu in a really cool pose ready to fire his thunderbolt. My 7-year-old brain could not understand several things. 1, how in the world did they get the show to pause. I mean, I barely knew what a VHS was or what it did at that age. 2, Why not just watch the show like normal people. 3 what were they doing with those notebooks and pencils staring at the tv?” His two brothers happily brought him into their world of art and their “bubble” that they had which consisted of drawing. From that moment on drawing became way more than just a way for David to express himself; it became a way for him to prove himself to his brothers and now the world. David has many creative goals as an artist. He would love to become a concept artist for a major gaming or movie production studio. He has aspirations of becoming a Forensic Artist for the Philadelphia Police Department, go back to school and study architecture. David aspires to become a world famous professional artist and overall to make his talent his life, nothing more noting less. “Everything else will come on its own”. David is always working on different projects. Currently he has been doing a significant amount of portraits for people and on his own time, he is writing and drawing the beginning of a comic book. Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things. You simply must do things.
