one of the things I find incredibly funny about writing characters who are still like. Zelda-adjacent but not from Hyrule specifically is the fact that they dont necessarily know what things from Hyrule are (eg: Atlas not knowing what a zora is)
even funnier is when I look up what games certain enemies appear in, find that theres one specific game where they look WILDLY different, and realize that they DEFINITELY wouldn’t know what they are
anyway did yall know that wizzrobes dont appear in Ocarina of Time? they only appear in Majora’s Mask, and they’re the ones that look like this
which means that Viola 1000% has only seen them a handful of times after he’s not in his own time period, Space has only heard of this kind and maybe seen a couple other ones elsewhere, but literally nobody else would have heard of that kind. which means i get to write silly little discussions like this
Viola, talking about something they saw at a distance: what are those things called? wizzrobes?
Vex: the fuck kinda wizzrobes are you dealing with that run?
Compass: yeah they definitely dont run
Space: ive heard of some that do
Vex: bullshit. dont try to cover for him saying dumb shit
Mikhail right now is blushing hard, gripping his lab coat’s chest pocket. “Wh-what? Don’t be silly I don’t have any crushes...”
He’s lying.

So! I said in the tags of the post with the link to the adventure fic that I’d make another post explaining some Stuff surrounding it. The basic gist of it is that we had planned to write the entire recruitment process before getting into what happens after that, but after finishing a chapter or two, I realized that I hated it.
It was going to be like a chapter in Lorule, then a chapter in Hyrule, and cycle through that until we had all of our boys in one group. That would have meant about 20-some chapters of repetitive garbage that I was not excited to write, wasn’t having fun with, and felt was at best tolerable to post. Honestly? I feel like if I’m not enjoying writing it, it’s not going to be enjoyable to read. So we threw that whole plan out the window.
The unfortunate part there is that we did plan for some stuff to happen throughout that whole thing, which we can no longer slowly drip into the story because those parts are fully not going to be written anytime soon. Some of those things get mentioned in this first chapter, others will be brought up later, but I’m sure I will absolutely not explain them entirely in this one post. I would absolutely love to encourage questions about what happened during all that, whether its the order they got picked up in, what happened when they met, etc. I’m more than happy to talk about it, just not. Fully write it all lmao
Important Notes
The most important event that we mentioned so far, however, is the fact that Viola’s Viola of Space went missing very early in the recruitment process. Sometime after traveling to Warp’s Lorule from BotW Hyrule, they realized that it was gone, and would have to figure out some other way to get back to Hyrule so they could travel through time again. Since they had Compass already and magic in CotA Lorule is so intensely supercharged, they were able to essentially tear a hole in space to get back. Was it a messy and dangerous solution? Yes. Did it work? Yes. Do they want to try it again? Hell no.
That’s about all I can think of at the moment. Again, any questions are more than welcome. I really appreciate that y’all have stuck with us while we’ve been figuring out all the whats and hows of our story and we hope you like what we have in store!!
