Hey I think I’m 1 of the ppl you mean who said that and in addition to all your points (which are good) I’d add that setting matters a lot for me, eg Heartland is “the city of the future” so I imagine it’s a lot more advanced in some social issues. Same with fantasy, historical settings; I just have issues with assuming homophobia will be present in diff cultures as if it’s essential and not something fairly specific to our current culture.

I feel exactly the same way, I'm so salty about arc v. I was excited for the new one to be announced so we could start moving on, but I'm not really hyped by it yet.
