Creatury 2023 days 3-5: chibi sphinx-Dimitri with chibi cervitaur-Claude.

I was behind on my Creatury daily drawings, so instead of drawing Sphinx-Dimitri with cervitaur-Claude, as just my day 1 challenge drawing, I made each element, my quota drawing for one day each, to help me catch-up. Then I retroactively spliced them together in Krita. Needed several tries to get cervitaur-Claude right.

Day 3 = 1/5/2023. Pencil sketch for half. Then inked and drawn 2nd half with Platinum Preppy fountain pen using Noodler's Ink. Colored with Copic markers. Some clean-up on Krita. Research said a Greek sphinx originally had falcon wings and a male sphinx is an Egyptian androsphinx.

Day 4 = 1/5/2023. Pencil sketch for half. Then inked and drawn 2nd half with Platinum Preppy fountain pen using Noodler's Ink. Colored with Copic markers. Some clean-up on Krita. Messed up the chibi proportions. Forgot the deer antlers. So I tried again for day 5.

Day 5 = 1/6/2023. Platinum Preppy fountain pen using Noodler's Ink. Colored with Copic markers. Some clean-up on Krita. Tried harder to keep chibi proportions and remembered deer antlers this time. Forgot the deer ears.

Creatury 2023 day 9: chibi DMCL holding hands.

Struggling to get back into daily drawing practice. So doodled something simple.

Creatury 2023 day 2: Claude and Dimitri mandrakes.

1/2/2023. Drawn in Platinum Preppy fountain pen, using Noodler's Ink. Colored with Copic markers and Daiso Fluently marker.

Came up with a whole dimiclaude fic idea, that'll probably just stay a headcanon, about mandrake-Claude and mandrake-Dimitri meeting during their pre-timeskip ages. Claude just appears, planted near Dimitri. They occasionally spend time outside of the soil, talking, or looking at stars, before re-burying themselves. Then during one of their dormant times of the day, Dimitri gets kidnapped by mandrake poachers. He spends years captive by a circus freak show type of group, until one day from his cage, he sees a hooded spectator peeking a flower out of his hood when they make eye contact. Apparently, Claude has spent years blending in with humans and tracking Dimitri down. He helps him escape, and they return to their mountain, far from any humans, re-planting themselves back into the ground to rejuvenate---this time, sharing the same hollow in the ground, so they can stay embraced. Then maybe later, because of their proximity, their flowers pollinate each other. But while Dimitri's flowers fruit, Claude's flowers are the type to create parachute seeds. Dimitri spends time outside of the earth, watching for Claude's seeds to sprout so he can catch them, instead of letting them fly far away. Then he plants Claude's parachute seeds and his fruit nearby. It's all very odd for Claude who comes from a type of mandrake that is accustomed to their offspring planting far away, but he indulges Dimitri and finds it actually kind of endearing. I doubt I'll actually write a fic; at the most I MIGHT get around to doodling a comic…but probably not. I almost couldn't keep up with this month's Creatury challenge already. ^.^;

I'm just not excited to draw for the Creatury challenge. In fact, I think I'm kind of DE-motivated to draw each day, for Creatury. I feel like I should be drawing for unfinished projects/sets or making designs for artist alley products instead. I've even had the urge to draw just referential sketches, like flowers or even my figurines, instead. Like practicing that would feel like a better use of my time, than making mythical/folklore creatures that aren't even turning out that well and probably can't be used to make products. Drawing my OTP as mythical/folklore creatures was motivating, but I'd much rather be drawing them as chibi humans. I like drawing fanart for MerMay, Faebruary, and Smaugust, but that means for Creatury, I should be drawing mythical/folklore creatures that aren't mermaids, fairies, or dragons. I'm beginning to think I'm just not that excited to draw mythical/folklore creatures that aren't mermaids, fairies, or dragons. I'm I think I have to ditch the Creatury drawing challenge again.
